Ford focus mk1 speedo not working after install. of glow gauges
If sm else faced this problem please help. Since I found no other way how to remove the gray front panel, I found the easiest way to remove the needles, after i spent lot of time to set precisely the new glow gauges I went for a drive to try to put the nedles exactly in their place while driving and checking the digital lcd for speedo and rpm's. What i figure out is that there is no chance for speedo to be re-set to show exact speed. What I did is, while driving ex. 50 or 60 or even 70 kph (km per hour) I install the nedle but while slowing down to app. 30 or 25kph, needle turns clockwise (shows 80 or 90 kph). If I drive more than 100 kph needle goes to 220 and it stops and stays forever there. I tried to re-set the cluster, 3 other needles go to the end and back but speedo only jumps uncontroled from 220 to 170 and back 2 to 3 times and that's it. Thnx in advance
I'm trying as iunderstood but apparently need a bit more explanation.
As I understood i shouldconnect the cluster, re-set it, drive a bit than turn off the car and place the needle at 0 kph that's what i did can u explain more pls...

My 04 Ford Focus the battery light keeps coming on & going off, have fitted a new alternator belt but it didn't solve the problem. The battery connections are good. Also the rev counter, speedo & mileage clock keep going haywire when the battery light is on. Do you think it is the alternator? Or is it some other common problem?
For the cigarette lighter fuse on uk models ford focus there is another 'hidden' fuse box behind the glove box. Just unscrew three screws at the hinge of the glove box. Replace fuse 35 which is a 15amp fuse. Hope this helps .
would change the ECU with the chip from the key from a car in scrapyard ,but before you get carried away try another seperate earth on the back of the speedo printed circuit board ,i wouldnt mind betting this is your problem
re-charge the battery to full then disconnect it then take the face cover off of the dials then fildle with the dials and make sure its not bent and see if it moves by your hand pushin it over if it does then just pull the pointer on the dial away from the dial itself then put the face cover back on the dials and they should work if not go to this page and consider buying it!!!!
Fuse No 64 on back of fuse box inside cabin behind glove compartment undo two bolt and turn fuse board around pull the wires gently apart to see fuse 20 amp
lift bonnet and remove the grill this model has the bonnet opening with the key when you lift the badge.then replace the whole unit,or visit a nocturnal spares place ie car park late at night.with just a badge drill a small hole and a nice chrome screw in
