Cam timing? Its a 1994 Suzuki King Quad 300 (four-wheeler)

  • marcoos_1 Mar 27, 2009

    Hi,

I need to know how to set the valve timing on the 300cc air cooled King Quad. When I look in from the left hand side with the rocker box (cam cover) off I can see two lines on the end of the camshaft. I take it these should line up with the machined face on the head to be horizontal when the piston is top dead centre?

Also, does anyone know the valve clearances?

    Thanks,

    Mark

On a 95 suzuki king quad 300 do u have to break the engine in half to replace the piston rings

The valve train, head and cylinder must be removed from the transmission, possibly even the fuel system. You should replace the base gasket as well as the head gasket while reassembling. Be careful to not let the timing chain drop into the transmission and make note of the timing marks as well prior to disassembly. Tie the chain with a string while you slip the cylinder off the piston.
