My bike will not turn over. When i push the electric start the starter solenoid just clicks.I tried jumping across the solenoid and still nothing, when i got the bike a few months ago I put a new battery in it and a reman starter which worked fine until a few weeks ago, not sure how to test the starter to see if that is what the problem is or if its something else??????

Pull the starter and check it by putting it on a testor or just hooking it to a good(known)battery. If it tests good then check/replace the starter switch and check wires to the switch.

Bike wont start just quit working one day it doesnt try to turn over battery is good and holding voltage, have checked all fuses, starter relay, kill switch, ran up and down that bike with a volt meter...

Push the starter button if your hear the solenoid clicking the starter button is good. If there is no click from the solenoid you may need to clean or replace the starter button.Follow the positive battery cable to the starter solenoid. Jump across the two cable terminals, this should activate the starter. If the starter works now you have burnt contacts inside the solenoid. replace the solenoid. If the starter does not turn over, try again tapping on the starter with a plastic hammer if the starter works now you need starter brushes. If the starter will not turn over with direct power (bench test) and the brushes are good the armature is probably shorted. You will have to replace the starter as an assembly parts are not available to rebuild the starter.

I have an 01 electra glide classic. It started fine last week, but now nothing. When I push the button all I get is a loud clank, its comeing from the starter plunger but the engine will not turn over. I...

On the end of your starter on the right side of the bike, you'll see a plate that is roughly shaped like a pentagon, (five sided). It's held on by three small bolts. Remove the bolts and the plate. Inside, you'll see the solenoid plunger. Remove the plunger and look at the large copper contacts on either side of the solenoid. If they look burned and worn away where the round washer on the plunger contacts them, they need replacing. Usually, the contact towards the front of the bike wears worst. It should be smooth and level across the face.

Another thing is that the starter could be hung up. Put the bike in high gear with the engine off and "bump" the bike backwards and forwards a few times. This will turn the engine slightly and free up a hung jackshaft. Try this before diassembling the starter.

Good Luck

I went to try and start my bike but it wont turn on. I turned the key to the on position and the lights and everything turn on. Press in the clutch and then hit the electric start button but nothing...

Dirty starter button (bad switch). You can carefully take it apart and clean. Bad solenoid, clicks but internal contact is burnt and not transferring electricity to starter. To check, jump the two posts on top of the solenoid (one from the positive battery terminal and the other goes to the positive battery terminal) or touch the cables together, this should make the starter work. If starter turns the solenoid is bad . If not you have a bad starter. Try replacing brush's. If brush's are marginal you can hold the starter button and gently tap the starter with a plastic hammer . If starter works then bad brush's. If the armature is bad You will have to buy a whole starter.

Bike wont start , the solenoid just clicks

If you push the start button and the solenoid clicks the button is good. Find the solenoid ( usually by the battery follow the positive cable.) and jump the two posts with a screw driver, piece of wire , or jumper cables if the starter now works you need a new solenoid. At this point you either have a bad battery or a bad starter. Jump the bike with a good automotive battery (can be in the car just make sure car is not running or you could damage bike.) If bike starter still does not work try new starter brushes for a Goldwing they are cheao and easy to replace. If brushes look good ( not down to wear marks ) you need a starter ( bad armature ). I'm guessing the solenoid is bad (first choice) or you need brushes. Good Luck

Suzuki 1400 intruder wont start.. just clicking noise.

It's most likely the connection to the battery. The screws dont tighten in well and you get the famous clicking....I replaced the stock philips screws with a hex bolt and after two years of trying to solve the problen have been starting everytime for the past year no problems. Another gie away is the intermitant starting problem gets worse when wet.

Starter problem

Pull all your ground wires involved with the starter circuit and clean the inevitable rust off their contacts. If that doesn't work, locate the solenoid (under the side cover or maybe the seat) and give it a tap with a screwdriver handle. If that makes it start, go buy a new solenoid.

Biek wont start just clicking?

I drive the bike every day or two and it always starts immediately. Does this sound like a starter or solenoid or something else? Well tried to jump start the bike and it wouldn't start just the same clicking sound. Also tried to jump over the solenoid with a screwdriver and nothing happened. Then I tried to push start the bike and again nothing. I can tell the battery is weak but even push starting, I should be able to start it without a battery right? ,,,
