Quad bike keeps cutting out
ALWAYS have a fire extinguisher on hand when working on carburetors.
Remove the water trap bowl at the bottom of the petcock, (gas valve). Is there any water or trash in the bowl? Drain a cup of gas from the tank. Is there any water or trash in the cup? Dump it, clean it and re-mount it, ( not all bikes have a water trap bowl ).
Drain the carburetor. There may be a screw on the lower side of the carb float bowl. Remove the screw then replace it after the fuel drains. Turn the gas back on and wait a minute for the carb to fill with gas. If the bike doesn't start and run properly then shut off the gas and remove the carburetor from the engine.
Remove the float bowl and clean the entire carb with a spray carb cleaner from the auto parts store. Wear protective goggles to avoid getting spray in your eyes. Spray into all the little airways and fittings in the carb. Remove the idle screw and the air screw on the outside throat of the carb and spray into the screw holes as well.

Be sure to put these two screws back in the same hole they came out of. IMPORTANT > do not tighten these two adjusters down. Only screw these in until they LIGHTLY seat. Now turn each adjuster one and one half turns outward. Before putting the slide back in the throat of the carb, move the clip on the jet needle one notch lower. Put the rest of the carb back together, clean the air filter and install the carb. Let the float bowl fill then start the engine. This process should get you back on the road.

Problems starting G-Scooter
Hi,
Initially and based on your description that it has not been used for some time, pls try:
- check the sparkplug, clean, replace, verify spark;
- verify any loose connection, wiring;
- replace/drain stale gas;
- if it is a two stroke engine, you may need to check that the 2T oil has not seeped to the bottom of the combustion chamber;
- check/clean the carburetor;
- verify that when you pull the starter cord, there is counter force; is it engaging the engine. This could be verified by removing the sparkplug and making sure the plug cap/wire is safely kept back, crank the engine (pull the starter cord) while keeping a finger covering the now empty sparkplug hole. If the starter cord is engaging the engine and there is sufficient compression, there would be tremendous pressure exerting on your finger.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
My lifan lifan scooter won't kick over or start but the starter motor still turns I'm not sure what the problem is
It is difficult to answer your question as without further details there is nothing that points to the problem.
I will give you these tips and then you should do some investigation of the problem!
First thing to always remember is; always make a good mechanical inspection to ensure that nothing is broken or disconnected etc.
Then:
Check that there is fuel in the line by disconnecting the fuel line if necessary.
Remove a spark plug and rest it (connected) on the cylinder head, look for a spark when you turn the motor over.
if all seems OK with the forgoing tests then turn the motor over by hand using the flywheel. (turn slowly, you may have to remove a protective cover.) feel if the motor has reasonable compression.
Notes:
Obviously if the fuel line is blocked you will need to find out why and clear it.
Does the automatic fuel pump device operate?
Does fuel come out of the carburetor float chamber drain hole?
If you have no spark, then you will need to establisth why there is no spark.
Is the ignition switch in the correct position?
Is the spark plug clean with approximately the correct spark gap?
If you follow the above procedure, you should soon find out the area that is causing your problem. If you are reasonably mechanically minded then buy a workshop manual for your machine, that will describe how to find and disassemble the various parts of your machine.
There is no magic answer to a machine that will not start, so if you are not mechanically minded it may be you will need to call a local mechanic to help!
My words above are general to any motor that has starting problems, I do not have personal knowledge of your machine and so I cannot go into finite details!
My 50cc scooter is having trouble starting
i keep having problems with my chinese moped 50cc in the morning it will not start so i have to heet it up with a hair driyer to warm the engin then it starts but when im going to college i cant get back becuse its to cold someone please help me solve this problem
I have a sym 50 scooter that will not start there
If you are sure that there is no spark from the sparkplug please clean the tip of the central and side electrodes to remove the carbon deposits and make sure that there is a sufficient gap between them.Also check for the electrical wire connections to the sparkplug and make sure that the battery is working properly.
I just bought a mosketo scooter and lost the key
Stop right there.If you brought the bike from a dealer then tell them you lost the key .if it was a private sale then there nothing you can do. But if I was you .I would try finding a frendly mechanic and tell him you lost the key and he may be able to find an old key that will fit . As for drilling out the key lock ,Remember that if your bike gets stolen the insurance company will not pay you ouy .if you have to bypass the switch lock remove the whole lock and put a on off switch in the wires coming out the rear of the switch .
Direct bikes scooter wont start
you need to have some fuel in the system over night as when it is shipped it is completly dry when this is done it should start with out any problems if it still has the same problem then you will need to charge the battrie
I have a 96 arctic cat zr 580 efi that runs good
Remove handle bar cover,find 3 wires that come out of the right side throttle,follow them down to where they get just about under the cowling and disconnect them there.Find a wire to jump the 2 outside wires of connector and plug harness back together.This will disable your throttle saftey switch which is most likely the cause of your problem.The center wire is for the kill button on top of bars.

Retro scooter cutting out and not starting
did you check the sparkplug? is the primary coil is good and still can deliver power?Your ignition coil is good?if all your answer is YES",then its time to check your CDI...
it is 99% the problem is in CDI..Replaced it..,But when your motorcycle is contact point operarted,then check the "timing",if you sure you set the right timing but it is still not firing,then replace the condenser.
You may also get rid to your ignition switch because sometimes there is the problem due to the stucked up of its component inside it at is grounded continously even the key has already turn into "on"mode.
Electric starter prolem
Hi and welcome to FixYa,
On your post "...
what is the possible problem...", initially, determine if there is at least a clicking sound when the start button is pressed:
- if yes, then possibly the contacts of the starter relay are corroded, burned or simply not touching each other. To confirm, short the 2 terminals to directly power the starter motor;
- if no clicking sound, then possibly safety interlocks are preventing starting. In some versions, it would be the brake lever switch, in some side stand switch;
- weak battery, externally charge and have it load tested.
- loose, corroded terminals and connectors; clean and tighten.
Postback results of initial checks.
Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.
DAFIER RIDER 50QT-6 OR YLYING YY50QT-6
What new parts were fitted? Were there the same issues before the parts were fitted? There may be a compression isssue due to a poorly fitted part. This will become evident as the bike becomes warm and parts start to expand with heat.
