2002 Aprilia SL Mille Falco R Questions & Answers
12 volts and wont crank
do a load test on the battery and see what you get. if it passes then you need start hunting, if you where riding in two days ago and parked it then im sure itssomething simple. check your main fuse your power to the starter button and back to the starter relay insure your starter relay is working and then power the starter itself.
Let me know what you find

Speedo stopped working
This is usually due to a broken speedo cable. The cable breaks when the lubricant in the speedo cable housing thickens beyond use from age, if the cable housing leaks and rust forms, or the speedometer itself gets gummy and hard to turn with age.
If the cable is broken, ensure free operation of all the parts, and then replace the cable.

Not getting along with my new falco
but im not really feeling the love for it. the main problems i have at the moment are that the front and rear suspension are really soft its ruining my cornering confidence and making the bike uncomfortable to ride. im 20st and 6'5 so there is a lot of me to hustle about. the hagon shock that the previous owner put on there has not adjustment other then preload and im sure the spring rate is miles off what i would need whats a good replacement shock for a guy like me? also the clutch is very heavy with little progression its either on or off so im finding riding in town hard work as well as slipping the clutch in corners.
lastly the fuel economy is pretty poor, i only got 93 miles before my low fuel warning light came on.
so any suggestions? because at this rate im considering selling it to get something a bit more pedestrian for riding in london like a fazer 1000.,I wasn't feeling the love for my falco for awhile either. For reference, I'm 6'6 and about 250 lbs.
Helibars are a must IMO. Also, my level of hate went waaaay down when I installed a smaller (-1) front sprocket. Being able to get the bike into corners at the right revs (and torque) reduced the amount of braking I did, which let the suspension settle down. Toss the stock shock.
They're great bikes, you just have to get it set up for you.

Rattly clutch? SL MILLE R
The clutch in my secondhand engine does exactly the same it's not too bad when the engine is cold but has a tendency to drag a little till it warms up. When hot there is quite a racket until I pull the lever.
This engine came out of a written off RSV trackday bike and has had a much harder life than my original one. I reckon that it's time for both of us to rebuild our clutches no doubt someone on here can confirm my suspicion.,,,
Changing dash bulbs.
I know they only go in one way.......Talk to GR he replaced his recently and did alot of research,
Tire deal at Cycle Gear
both the BT-014 and -021 ... $90 for a 120 front and $110 for a 180 rear.
I've never run Bridgestones but I am thinking about an -021 in the rear and the stickier -014 up front. Any opinions?
hear they are pretty good...in MotoGP anyways
JCR has BStones on his CBR...they were real sticky...and he claims they last quite a while too.

My aprila rs50 starts fine and runs fine cold but if it heats up abit you pull the throttle and it sounds like its dieng

1
Park your RSV 1000R on a well-ventilated, level area, using its kickstand.
-
2
Start the engine and let it idle in place until the
temperature gauge built into the instrument cluster indicates a minimum
internal temperature of 180 degrees Fahrenheit. This is the motorcycle's
ideal operating temperature.
-
3
Take note of the engine idle speed, using the tachometer
needle, while the engine is running. Ideally, the engine should idle
steadily at 1,250 rpm.
-
4
Adjust the engine idle speed to 1,250 rpm, using the idle
adjuster screw hidden between the lower right edge of the fuel tank and
the upper edge of the right middle fairing panel. Turn the idle adjuster
screw clockwise to increase the engine idle speed, or counterclockwise
to decrease the engine idle speed, using a small flat screwdriver if
your RSV 1000R's frame (VIN number) precedes ZD4MEE009YS000292. A
plastic knob allows the engine idle speed to adjusted by hand on RSV
1000R models with a frame (VIN) numbers starting from ZD4MEE009YS000293.
-
5
Rev the engine two to three times and observe the
tachometer. The engine should return to a 1,250 rpm idle. Adjust the
engine idle speed as needed, using the method described, then rev the
engine again. Problems may exist within the throttle control,
fuel-injection system or engine, if the engine idle speed will not hold
steady at 1,250 rpm. Contact your local Aprilia service facility for
assistance.
-
6
Stop the engine, once you have obtained a steady 1,250 rpm idle speed.

Will not start Aprilia Mojito Custom
OK< can you provide more details? Does it turn over? Does it fire at all? Do you know if you have a spark? Do you know if fuel is getting through? Has it run properly recently?
To run, a motor needs fuel, air and spark
Inspect all fuel lines and wires. Pull the sparkplug and see if it is burnt/wet/corroded
