1998 Aprilia Pegaso 650 Road Questions & Answers
Hi there, my aprilia pegaso
At 60° - 70°C the thermostatic valve starts opening; at about 85°C it opens completely and lets the fluid flow with maximum delivery.
The radiator is provided with a thermal switch, which snaps and operates the electrofan if the liquid temperature in this area reaches 90°C.
When the operation of the electrofan brings the coolant temperature back to 80°C, the thermal switch snaps again and disconnects the electrofan.
So, check the coolant level in the expansion tank, the thermostat operation and water pump.
Air bleeding of this system is not necessary.
Wind Buffeting ?
I am about 6 foot and I have no problems with wind buffeting on my pagaso Perhaps it is also depending on what helmet you use. I use a Nolan N101 which works fine for me.
Mounting a Green Light trigger on pagaso 650
be pointed UP instead of down ripe for being stolen etc...
2. On the lowest part underbelly. Given that my sump guard is thick metal I didn't think it would trip the trigger (plus you had to ride INTO the intersection if it was that far on your bike).
3. I ended up trying it INSIDE the left side grate (glued to the rubber backing).
Trips most of the lights here (angled down AND forward is key), but seems to have begun to wander. Not sure if it's a glue/rubber backing issue, or if the engine heat warms it enough that it gets soft when riding??
Before I break out the Zip ties, I figured I'd see if anyone has come up with a better location or mounting method. (see pic) Ideas?
They do offer a plastic box w/ziptie for $15+ shipping...,I gotta get me one of those...I had one on my ST1100 and it seemed to work at most lights. How about mounting it on the bottom of the aluminum plate with heavy duty velcro? If its not too heavy, I think it would hold. Just have to check it once in a while. I tried to get mine as low to the ground as possible.

I have a 08 pegaso
it probebly is a water prooblem or take spark plug out check it if its black then you need a new spark plug or you may have got water on your electrics let me know if not ile help some more.
Just got an 58reg aprilia
A leaking carb may allow liquid fuel into the combustion chamber, this cannot be compressed & so leads to the engine locking up (hydraulic lock)
Check the carb floats are working & are set to the right height

Cog behind fly wheel on my 650 pegasso 93 model turns by hand
I suggest you look at the flywheel to make sure there are no missing or rounded teeth. Next I'd check the bendix on the starter to make sure you did not lose a bushing or bearing. If the engagement bearing is shot you will have definite problems with the starter.
My aprila rs50 starts fine and runs fine cold but if it heats up abit you pull the throttle and it sounds like its dieng

1
Park your RSV 1000R on a well-ventilated, level area, using its kickstand.
-
2
Start the engine and let it idle in place until the
temperature gauge built into the instrument cluster indicates a minimum
internal temperature of 180 degrees Fahrenheit. This is the motorcycle's
ideal operating temperature.
-
3
Take note of the engine idle speed, using the tachometer
needle, while the engine is running. Ideally, the engine should idle
steadily at 1,250 rpm.
-
4
Adjust the engine idle speed to 1,250 rpm, using the idle
adjuster screw hidden between the lower right edge of the fuel tank and
the upper edge of the right middle fairing panel. Turn the idle adjuster
screw clockwise to increase the engine idle speed, or counterclockwise
to decrease the engine idle speed, using a small flat screwdriver if
your RSV 1000R's frame (VIN number) precedes ZD4MEE009YS000292. A
plastic knob allows the engine idle speed to adjusted by hand on RSV
1000R models with a frame (VIN) numbers starting from ZD4MEE009YS000293.

Rev the engine two to three times and observe the
tachometer. The engine should return to a 1,250 rpm idle. Adjust the
engine idle speed as needed, using the method described, then rev the
engine again. Problems may exist within the throttle control,
fuel-injection system or engine, if the engine idle speed will not hold
steady at 1,250 rpm. Contact your local Aprilia service facility for
assistance.

6
Stop the engine, once you have obtained a steady 1,250 rpm idle speed.
