Volkswagen Passat - Recent Questions, Troubleshooting & Support
I have a 2003 VW Passat W8 and the fuel pump won't turn on. The pump works until it goes in tank. The fuse is good and the relay clicks?????
no enigine told gas or diesel.
i cant see what you are doing
rules :
never run any pump dry, it is fuel lubricated and cooled.
if engine cranks and will not run (not told you)
then measure pump pressure only cranking, cranking matters. PSI cranking only matters, dead engine,.
some cars have key on prime pulse others do not. or based on air temps, yes/no. rules complex. avoid prime pump tests. (savvy?)
some new bosch pumps are 100% silent so noise tests are not good now, use use cranking PSI pressure only if wise. and hate taking a bath in fuel.
11vdc to pump pins cranked. (11vdc is battery resistance drop)
PSI cranked.
that is what matters.
below is battery voltage drop cranked, all 100% good
see the alternator wake-up, IT MUST./
11vdc cranked and 10.5 to pump (ohms laws Vdrop normal)
scopes RULE!
Vw passat radio code
Passat 97 need to re-enter code ( 4 ) digit, however it shows the number 2 on the on screen when the radio is turned on.
Help. I need to know the steps to reset. thanks
Can I by pass the power steering for a 2003 Volkswagen Passat.
You can't bypass the power steering pump. You would NOT have enough strength to steer.
The only thing you can bypass is the A/C compressor and you do that by removing it and installing a bypass pulley. Not for steering though.
If you want to test the theory find a quiet and gentle hill, turn the engine off and hand brake off and roll. Try and steer. Don't forget you also have no brake assist either, so don't pick up too much speed.

My 2000 Volkswagen Passat will click out of gear into neutral when I take off?
Automatic? Manual? More info is always helpful in diagnosing issues.
I'll take a guess. Check your motor and transmission mounts and torque strut. Excessive movement could cause twisting of the engine assembly enough to cause issues.
Put the E-brake on and press on the brake while having another person watch the engine with the hood open. As you put it into Drive notice the movement, then go to Reverse. It really shouldn't move that much front to rear so if you're getting a few inches of movement going from Drive, then to Reverse and back again a few times, mounts are the issue.
