Yeah, on the carb linkage, where the cable from the speed lever is connected, notice when you move the lever on the bar how it moves another lever on the cable connection at carb. Now notice when you move the lever to stop position that it will move a little bent wire connected to the black wire that goes under the flywheel. This bent wire is the shut off when it is grounded out by the movement to ground of this little bent wire. The intire bracket may be loose and letting it ground out and is why you have no fire to the plug. Just be shure that little bent wire isn't touching anything to ground it.
You could have a shop check pump pressure - usually the cause is a weak pump or problems with the valve body. Chances are if you just sit in drive at idle, it will also move on its own in a couple of minutes once the fluid warms up. I never recommend changing fluid after 100k.
There is a motor above the firewall in the engine compartment.(Not easy to get at). To that motor there is a gear that attaches the motor to the wiper arms. Tighten that connection. You may want to try to turn the wipers on then off. Thiss will put the blades in what it thinks is the rest position. Other wise they may be out of wack. So with the wipers off loosen the drive gear force the wipers down all the way and then tighten.
That indicates an internal engine problem. But first check your pcv valve for proper operation. If it is working then you have a valve seal or piston ring problem. in each case if you have high milage consider rebuilding entire engine or replacement.
if you can turn the serpentine belt either direction by hand at all you probably need a harmonic balancer..or just look in the passenger wheelwell at the h/balencer and see if the rubber is cracked all the way around.. just fixed one with that issue
The pressure control solenoid needs to be replaced. It"s under the side cover on the transmission on drivers side. Not a simple fix at home. You will also need a side cover gasket. The transmission does not need to be rebuilt.
R- The 99 9-3 uses a hydraulic top system with a single pump and different solenoids which open and close at points to operate different pistons for the top operation. From your description, it sounds like one of the many microswitches for the system is defective, bent, or broken. This is usually more the problem with these tops than other real mechanical issues. I suggest taking it to an indy saab repair shop or saab dealer. In order to test what switch is failing you need to have the Tech 2 computer to communicate with the soft top ecu when the fault occurs. Justin Duthie Strictly Saab Melbourne, FL
