I have a 99 malibu with a 3.1L engine. my check engine light came on and then started to blink, after scanning the car with a code reader it showed a PO300, PO113, and P1404. after reseaching the definitions of these codes i descovered what each code ment. I have changed the spark plugs and wires and cleared the codes. shortyly after the check engine light came back on and started to blink again. i rescanned and the code PO300 is the only code still showing. i understand that the blinking check engine means that there is raw fuel leaking into my catalitic converter and there is a fuel odor present. the PO113 AND P1404 codes are not present only the PO300. i can feel the engine misfireing and i can feel the vibration from the engine and also see it, the vibration shakes the whole car. i have checked the coil packs and there is no evidence of burning or scarring that i have noticed. please help

The flashing light is telling you the engine is miss firing, not that there is fuel in the exhust a miss fire is the only thing that will cause the light o flash the P0300 is a random misfire so i cant tell you witch cylinder but replace the coils that should take care of it....good luck

    Hey johnjnail,
    I have a miss fire on mine and replaced the coils and the spark plugs and cylinder 1 is still miss firing. Any ideas on what else it could be?

Does the code reader power up ? Does a message no communication show on the screen ? Is there B+ voltage at pin 16 in the DLC ? If all that is good try a auto parts store ,they check codes for free .

How to reset check engine light on chevy malibu
You need an OBD-II scan tool to do that. You can get them at auto parts stores fairly cheap. Be sure that the one you get is not just a code reader....some will read but not reset codes.

Is the check engine light on or blinking? A blinking light means that the engine is misfiring bad. I suggtes scanned the computer car in order to know fault codes stored there.

well if you get it scanned again, and you get a lean bank 1 and 2 code then you may have a intake manifold gasket thats leaking. I just worked on a van that had them codes. and I ended up changing the intake manifold gaskets to get it to pass the emissions test for inspection, I live in new york state, po171 and p0174 are the lean codes. we did the maf sensor, new 02 sensors, egr valve and still got this lean code. good-day and god blessyou. it was on a 99 ford windstar van.

2005 TAHOE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AGAIN
The engine light could be on for an unrelated reason. Most major auto parts stores will scan and clear codes for free or have a loaner you can use on site. The reader plugs into a port under the dash on the drivers' side....get the code number, then clear it with the reader. If the same code comes back, post it here or Google it for additional help

Check engine light comes on
Do you hear the air pump run when you start the car? No? Check the A.I.R. pump fuse in the under hood fusebox. if it is blown then you probably need a new air pump motor. If the fuse is not blown then the relay could be the culprit. if you can hear the pump running when you start it the engine then you probably just have some wiring issues from the relay to the ecm it can still work ok but fail the resistance test that the computer runs randomly. Give some more info and I'll help you through this.
