SOURCE: 2000 yukon xl. 4x4 wont engage

My 2000 Yukon XL with 5300 engine had same problem at 115,800 miles in Aug 2006(I bought the vehicle new January 2000)...My GMC dealer did diagnostic and replaced a faulty 4WD Transfer Case Shift Control. (reading from the service invoice) It was GM part number 15709327. Cost for the repair was $41.48 + labor $74.13, total was $115.71...it now has 165,000 on it and so far no problem and the 4WD works when I need it.

I have 2003 RA Holden Rodeo 3.0 ltr T/Diesel. The 2 front wheels don't seem to be engaging when i put it into 4wd (high or low range). I can hear the high and low range click in when i press the buttons...

Does yours have AUTO hubs, there are some luxory models have auto hubs, these rely on difference in drive on the axles,(wheel spin) others have manual locking hubs, these actually need to be engaged manually, these require you to twist the centre of the hub to engage and disengage the front hubs, these sometimes require you to reverse to disengage properly, Rodeo had both depending on model. 4 wheeldrive not working, green light on button only blinks.

I had that problem on my 2001 Tundra. As I had not engaged it for a few months, it was blinking. So on level ground I moved a few inches forward, pushed the button, moved back a few inches and did it again to see if it would mesh together. It takes patience. Listen to hear if it is trying to engage. If you can hear it (or feel it) keep trying. If not and it's just a clicking noise you may need new wiring from the button to the unit.

Unable to engage 4wd 1993 pajero

Do the 4 wheeldrive lights in the middle of the instrument cluster flash when you've selected 4 Wheel Drive?. Have you tried move forward with the transferbox lever to 4 Wheel Low on a NON-Asphalt/Tarmac surface[ie, dirt road/trail. Sometimes on a Gen 2 Pajero/Montero that hasn't had the 4 Wheel selection used in awhile, do this trick, before moving the lever back up to 4 Wheel High[with no center diff lock] seems to free up a sticking t-box. Also, make sure all your vacuum hoses for the front axle connection system are attached to their metal pipes or solenoids, esp. the main connection at the engine[your source of vacuum for the system.]

4 wd low range will sometimes engage 4wd high will never engage

I had a very similar problem with my 98 gmc 2500. The 4 low would engage - though the upshifts were erratic, but no 4 high though the light sometimes came on. I changed out the electric shift solenoid or whatever it is called, on the transfer case and it worked fine after that. A fairly simple fix that can be done in 15 minutes. Hope this helps.
