Engine ideling unevenly then orange engine light comes on and it dies

Your not correct,there is a reason

Any dash light that stays on or comes
on after the motor is started, is an indication
you have a problem

No check light or warning light will go out until
you diagnose the reason it is on & correct the
problem

Yes its very possible that the IAC valve is bad.Here is something you can try.Take the connector off of the IAC if this remedies the situation then replace the IAC.If the idle is surging then I would look at the throttle position sensor.And also remember that if a sensor was bad you would get a check engine light that should come on.You might also have a vacuum hose that came off.

If it was an Oxygen sensor it would most likely cause the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT to come on.
I would check the spatk plugs and condition of the plug wires first.

They only 2 lights that i can think of that are orange are the Check Engine And ABS light. Hope this helps

Find put where the hissing noise is coming from, you have a vacuum leak. Fix that , and everything else will be fixed. After you fix it, disconnect the battery for 5 minutes to reset the computer and fuel trims.

Vacume leak or bad idle motor. With the car in park and running with the hood open listen for leaks moving your hand around the different hoses looking for a change in the sounds that you hear. The idel motor also makes the car idel up to 1500 RPM or so right at start-up then idel down, If it doesn;t the idel motor is likly. Check engine light is on when running? Test for codes, Follow code test charts don't skip any steps!.

altenator or battery going out, also check all grounds to motor and body!

I would look at the idle air motor,also check system with a voltmeter to see that its charging around 14 volts

If there is no check engine light on I would go the local auto parts
store and check out the TP sensore first and then the Mass air flow...
