2000 chevy malibu ...car won't start. I have a two month old battery. When the car is off, after I tried to start it, I can still hear a buzzing noise in the dash behind the stereo. The serpintine, drive shaft belt recently broke and the pulleu was broke... they were both replaced....three days before it wouldn't start. yesterday it was starting with a battery jump.

Check the voltage to battery. battery voltage at battery should be be at least 12.6 or higher with car off. when running at battery should be at least 14.1 to 14.7, try this. get a jump start, then while running disconnect the negative cable to battery. car chould still run. but if it quits when disconnecting negative cable then you have an alternator problem. or the belt.

the motor is cranking. that tells us you have a good starter and battery. now we need to see if the fuel pump works and if you have spark. what you need to do is turn the key to the start position and see if you hear a buzzing noise from the gas tank. if you hear a buzzing noise the pump is good. have to see if you have spark. is the check engine light on

Does a 2000 chevy malibu have a fuel reset button and where? it just died while at a stop sign, so we thought it was out of gas. we put gas in and it still will not start.

Hello mellissa, the 2000 malibu does not have a fuel reset switch. Check the fuel pump relay in the fuse box under the hood. Check for fuel pressure. You should be able to hear the fuel pump come on for a few seconds when you turn the key to the run position....Your fuel pump might have failed.
I hope this helps.

I have a 2000 chevy malibu, battery light came on

check your serpentine belt it sounds like it may have stretched or broken. Without the belt working properly your car will overheat due to the waterpump not activating and neither will the power steering or alternator
