Won't start after being shut off in hot weather

Any ideas why a 2002 yukon 5.3L V8 runs fine, starts fine initially, but after running for a while in hot weather (90+), then shut down and try to restart after a little while (hour or so) wont' start. Put Ziplock bag with ice on fuel line along drivers side of engine for 20 minutes and it starts fine. Any ideas if this just vapor lock, or possibly fuel regulator or pump? Where is fuel reguulator located? I know the pump is in the tank (Ughh!)

Need to locate fuel pump fuse for a 2002 yukon replaced relay and it starts but eventually dies out

If fuse was bad it would not start at all, definitely not the fuse, running for a while usually means that something gets hot, and thermal switch kills it.

My 2002 jeep liberty starts and after a period of running and driving and when shut off and immediatly try to start again it will not till its cooled down does anyone have any idea

Its a hot start issue.
Can be related to low fuel pressure or problem with crank sensor.

Also it can be weak battery or starter.

But possibilities are to be inspected to confirm what exactly it is.------

My 96 yukon wil not start. Sounds like it will crank over but won't. It is not the fuel. I changed the ignition coil still won't start.

try spraying some carb cleaner into a vaccum hose and see if it will run. If so then you have ignition but no fuel delivery. If not then you have an ignition problem. make sure you hear the fuel pump hum when you turn the key to the run position. It should run for +/- 5 seconds then shut off. remove gas cap and listen for fuel pump operation through the fill hole. If you can hear the pump then you have a fuel injection issue. If the engine starts and runs for a few seconds then shuts off then you can suspect the crank or cam position sensor. The fuel pump runs through the oil pressure switch which could also be an issue.

Are you able to start the truck with application of the gas pedal?

Define - It attempts to turn over but won't catch and run ???? When you turn the key to start does the starter engage an spin the engine ? This would be a crank no start condition . If the starter doesn't engage an spin the engine this would be a no crank no start condition . Sorry to ask but i have only been an auto tech for thirty years an have heard a lot of different discriptions for these simple actions . crank no start or no crank no start . Very different diagnostic procedures . So when you turn the key to start , does the starter engage an spin the engine ,but won't start an run ?

Vehicle chokes, sputters, and then shuts off

Start with the simple and replace the fuel filter. The fuel filter may have reached the end of it's life time and is dirty causing the issues you have. The worst is the fuel pump it self has gone bad and needs to be replaced, the fuel pump should be producing 62 to 65 PSI when the engine is started and should drop no more then 5 PSI when the engine is running. You can check the fuel pressure at the shredder valve with a fuel pressure gauge. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to help get your Yukon running 100% again.
