I Have a 99 expedition eddie bauer. My brake lights wont come on till i push the pedal almost to the floor. Can u tell me whether i need to replace the brake light switch.

i have same problem with my 2007 expedition doose anybody know how to reset this, i dont have owners manual it was stolen

A vacuum leak. Look & listen for hissing noise where rubber or nylon lines come through firewall under dash near brake pedal. Also look under hood at large hose going to back of brake master cylinder, power brake booster.

It could be a number of things, the good news is that none of them are serious or expensive to fix.

The normal components that make up your brake circut are:

1. The brake light fuse (In the fuse box and labeled as such)
2. The brake light switch/relay - also called a stop light switch. It's under the dash, right behind the brake pedal arm. When you push the brake, it sends a signal to the lights which turns them on. Think of the dome light switch in the door jam of your truck. When you open the door, it releases the switch and your dome light pops on. Same thing with the brake light switch.
3. The bulbs in the tail lights and the 3rd brake light.
If none of them are working, it's most likely a fuse or the switch/relay under the dash. If it's the switch, it's a $12 part. Obviously fuses are only a couple bucks.

the heater is a long plastic box and the mixer door is inside of the box. The stepping motor controls the door.

I think there are 2 switchs on that brake pedal. You are right tho about the brake switch causing your problem.
If you fix your brake light problem your other problem will be fixed also.. check to see if the wires at the brake pedal switch are energized. I am betting on a ground problem.

the brake system on these units cant be bled at home if air gets into themaster cylinder and or the (hcu) hydraulic control unit,a special anti-lock brake test adapter has to be pluged into the control module, any atempt to bleed the system with out this tool wiil result in a spongy pedal

Check servo is working correctly.Make sure you are getting a good suction from the valve.Remove the valve and try ****

you may just be low on freon. The rear will often work ok when low, but the front won't

The same compressor serves both front and rear systems. Check that first.

ALso, check to see if your front blend door rotates when you raise & lower the temperature.
