SOURCE: low oil pressure
usually that could mean a failing oil pump....or a clogged pickup in the oil pan, could also mean you have a leak somewhere. the car shutsoff because it protects itself from killn itself
SOURCE: Low oil pressure light goes on until car warms up. Oil level is good
The oil pressure sending unit has gone bad. I sending unit is just above the oil filter and you can get to it from the top. When you face the Engine look down towards the oil filter, the oil pressure sending unit is just above that and it looks like a cylinder with two wires coming from it. If you don't see it, it's right between the exhaust manifold and oil filter.
If you go to Auto Zone or Parts Source, they'll have the oil pressure sending unit and the step by step instructions, When installing the new sensor. Do not use teflon tape or any sealant, the sensor is tapered and need's the good ground from the engine to give you right readings.
Good luck and hope this helps.

You can remove the oil pressure sensor and use a test pressure guage to read the pressure. This gives you more or less a second opinion. I dont know what reading is being considered "Low". What is it reading? Do you have the "dummy light", pressure guage or electronic pressure guage? Have you changed the oil and filter then compared the new and old readings? What type of oil are you using?
It is very possible that there could be wear on your oil pump or even a washer failure where the pump mount is.
Has this been gradually getting worse or did it happen all of a sudden?
