How do i get the error codes from a 95 astro van without a diagnostic tool

If the light is on there are code stored ! Not in the PCM/ECM engine computer . In the BCM , do you know what that is ? body control module ! Need a factory scan tool or equivalent to check !

Why does everyone want to chop up things , by pass etc... The right fix could be cheaper then ruining your vehicle . Chopping up wiring harnesses . Their are by pass module , don't know how much they are . It may or may not fix the problem . Pulling the code and doing the diagnostics is still the best solution .

You need to take it to a ASE certified repair facility an have them hook up a diagnostic scan tool to check for DTC's - diagnostic trouble codes an look over engine sensor data PID'S , Not a code reader ! When did you last have any maintenance done , plugs ,wires , Distributor cap an rotor , changed vacuum hose's or had them check for leakage ! Does you check engine light come on an stay on ?

There is not an ICM on the 95 Ford Contour it is a part of the PCM. All this toward the dash left side.---------------------------------------------------------------------

The proper way to reset the DTC is using an OBDII scanner. Go to the nearest Autozone, ask to do a code scanning and to reset codes.

You can also reset the codes at home but you will need a scanner like this:OBDII Scanner - U480.

Here an example showing how to use a scanner tool to reset the codes.

You can also try disconnecting the battery. That will reset the engine check light until the problem occurs again. It may not clear stored diagnostic codes. Make sure that you have the stereo anti theft code if needed.

No. the transmission from the 95 astro van is an electronically shifted trans controlled by the pcm. The 92 z71 is controlled by hydraulic pressure created internally by the trans pump and governor assy. Sorry.

You don't reset it, you resolve what is causing it to register an error. You need to pull the codes from the computer and proceed with testing based on those clues.

there is no relay power from control panel through pressure switchs to compressor

ignition switch not lock cylinder may need to be addjusted it's on top side of steering column under dash

it sounds like you may have excessive ring wear. this will cause you to use more oil and fuel than you should be.
