P0325 OBD-II Trouble Code

Technical Description: Knock Sensor Circuit Malfunction

What does that mean?A knock sensor tells the engine computer when one or more of your engine's cylinders are "knocking", that is, exploding the air/fuel mixture in a way that delivers less power and can be damaging to the engine if prolonged. The computer uses this information to tune the engine so that it doesn't knock. If your knock sensor wasn't operating properly, so that it was always indicating a knock, the engine computer's response may have been to change the ignition timing on your engine. Knock sensors generally bolt into or thread into the engine block. This P0325 code may show up intermittently or the Service Engine light may be lit constantly. Other knock sensor related DTC codes include P0330.

Hope this helps.

Both the codes here are engine codes you need to be able to pull ABS codes. P0325 is a knock sensor code and the P0496 is evap purge flow high. These will not cause a ABS or Traction control problems.

Trouboule

A P0325 refers to the knock sensor electrical circuit, not the sensor itself! So check all wiring & connectors leading to the sensor, back to the PCM. Good luck, I found a good P0325 article here - http://www.obd-codes.com/p0325

I need to troubleshoot dtc p0325 & p1320 on a 1997 Nissan Maxima GXE?

Hi,

The two codes seem to be related. The P0325 description is knock sensor circuit malfunction and the P1320 is ignition signal - circuit malfunction.

I'll summarize and then give links on more detailed articles I found. Basically the P0325 refers to the knock sensor and associated wiring. The P1320 refers to the ignition coil and wiring. Check the sensor, coil, and associated wiring.

I found some great articles:
P0325 - http://www.obd-codes.com/p0325
P1320 - http://autorepair.about.com/library/a/1i/bl039i.htm

Good luck!
