Has been starting hard, almost like fuel starvation. when safari starts it runs fine, full power, no hesitation. If safari has not been sitting for more than two or three hours it starts ok. 97 Safari sat in driveway one day(24 hrs or more) now cranks ok but no start, tried so many times (2 or 3 seconds at a time) battery is getting weak. I have battery on a charger right now.

SOURCE: 97 GMC Safari - best type thermostat, location, temp?

The owners manual will tell you the temp you should use, but you can also look at the old one when you pull it out as it will have the value stamped on it. As for the brand, most are all okay. I use stant brand since that's what the local parts store carries. To find the thermostat under the hood, follow the top radiator hose to the engine block and a domed housing. It's under the housing.

SOURCE: hard cold start 96 safari

Check fuel presure.I believe its 61 to 65 psi, with little or no drop off in ten minutes.V-6 access port for fuel presure is at left rear of engine,(remove dog house to access). Fuel pump is in fuel tank.Use AC Delco only, there is a updated wire harness conector for these.

SOURCE: vent selector stuck on defrost (knob turns - no

There's a good possibilty that you have a vacuum line off. When the heater controls lose vacuum, the heater will go into the defrost mode. There should be a small line, about 1/8 inch in diameter, that goes from the engine to the firewall. It's most likely on the passenger side.

2000 sarari hesitates when starting off and loss of power

sounds like your fuel injectors are possilbly sending in a RICH FUEL MIXTURE( more fuel than needed ) due to what could benumerous reasons. First is there a service light coming on ? If yes, might be a few codes. Might show a clue ( code ) as to where the problem is. Necessary to use a scanner to read codes. Hope this helps

I have a 93 escort and it lost power every once in a while and ran rough at other times. The solution was to replace the oxygen sensor. It has run excellant for the last 45,000 miles now.
