2005 mazda tribute, ran very low on oil, constanly putting oil in it, not buring no leaks, oil light came on , pulled over, no oil in engine, put oil in engine, rattling noise in engine, I did put Lucas oil in the engine, that did make noise quieter, but still there , Does the engine need to be replaced or is it a lifter? There is only 80,000 km on the engine, oil is very clean, motor is very new looking no oil spills on engine

SOURCE: engine seized no oil did not get check oil or check engine light

The oil pressure warning light only comes on when oil pressure drops below 4psi at this moment there is no oil in the engine most often it does not get to this point because oil, water etc is checked every week. It could be your engine was using oil which would point to an engine fault.

Just took my car to the shop for the same appearent reason me also thinking it may be lifters. My mechanic said it spounds like a worn wrist pin ...... bad news for you if this is the case .......recomendations rebuild the engine or buy a new or remanufactured one. if the wrist pin lets go then you could throw a rod. If you must drive the car please be gentle

SOURCE: 2005 mazda 3 2.3l that is burning oil (no leaks)

possibly the pcv but check if your cars exhaust smoke is blueish or white in color if it does and your car doesnt have an oil leak then sure its burning engine oil along with fuel, the piston rings is defective, since you replaced engine oil the additive that the owner has put with the oil to prevent blowby is gone thats why it starts burning oil.....

I own a 2003 mazda tribute. The oil light stays on but the car does not need oil

Usually the oil warning light means the engine oil pressure is low, or the sending unit has failed.

ABS light on in my 2005 Mazda Tribute. Just had an oil change and tire rotated. Also steam cleaned the engine yesterday. The brake fluid is low. I will try filling that.

You do not steam clean any engines from
1985 on, or you will have problems with water
intruding electical connectors & more

Brake fluid won't be low
As the pads wear & caliper piston moves out,
fluid level goes down, not an issue

The ABS light you should already know is a Vehicle
System Malfunction & we have had those or similar
lights on the dash of all vehilces for 30 years
So nothing new at all. Check for codes, diagnose &
have the ABS Braking System repaired

2005 Mazda Tribute... Similar to a few unsolved issues. Burns excessive oil, ever since I got it. Every 1000km or so, 1/2 to 3/4 liter of oil. No leaks, emissions are okay. Also fuel economy is not...

Sounds like the Valve Guides are **** out oil is seeping down valve stems and burning in the cylinders. Some times STP oil treatment can slow the oil down because of its thickness. I have put about a cup of dexron2 transmission fluid in my oil to swell up the O-ring seal on the valve stem to stop this problem and a cup will not hurt anything. Like i have put STP in Automatic Transmissions to correct leaky valve body problem work like a charm. Can give you 3 to 5 more years of life to a transmission.

My 2005 mazda tribute seems to be throwing oil on headline and engine. It eats oil. Mechanic says there is now oil on the bottom of the car...70k miles. Should I get rid of this car? What could be wrong?

Don`t be afraid of this, take the car to a shop you can trust and ask them to find the oil leak,it has to be a oil leak the problem on your car.

Ok I have a 2005 tribute and I always run

This car has a catalytic converter, you can't see the smoke of the burned oil with it, it's cleaned. The oil could get in the plugs cavity only if there's a leak at the valve cover. My guess is that the oil seeps out only when there's pressure - the engine is running. To find where it leaks clean your engine thoroughly the start the engine in your driveway for an hour - where the oil will leak you clearly see it. In that case replace the corresponding seal.

Bad oil leak near front. Mechanic now says the leak is from where the engine was glued together in factory? Ever heard of a motor in the tribute being glued together?

The car companies now use special high-strength uv light cured adhesives on aluminum engine to crankcase seals. What he meant is you need a new
front crankshaft seal.

When slowing down & stopping 2005 Mazda tribute sputters and dies

Sounds like it could possibly be a vaccume problem, the computer sees that the vaccume has a low pressure and thus fludding the engine, or visa versa, it's seeing too high of a pressure and cutting the fuel comsumption to a minumum enough to make the engine sputter and die.. Does this happen when the cars in Netural or Reverse or Park? Just Drive?
