The simplest thing is that the latch catch or the latch itself has shifted and or the handle itself is not springing back to the proper placement once the lid is closed. Best regards

often normal door latches will wear out causing the door latch to not activate the "full latch". The full latch ends up moving further up and into the latch. the solution is to replace the latch or have it rebuilt.
The trunk catch is adjustable - look at the bar the latch catches on. It is mounted to the trunk with 2 screws or bolts. Slightly loosed those and move the catch up just a tiny bit. Re - tighten bolts and try closing. If the latch doesn't catch, move that bar up a tiny bit more until it catches. Don't move it too much as water will get in around the seal. The seatbelt latch can be replaced either with one from a junkyard or an aftermarket seatbelt assembly from an auto parts store. As far as the no start I need more info - does the starter turn over but the engine doesn't catch or, when you turn the key does nothing happen or a clicking noise? Let me know _ I'll do what I can! The same "latch" secures the trunk closed.
The key, electric relay and button operate the same latch.
IF the trunk fails to open, the "latch" is not completely releasing from the catch that secures it.
The next time that you open it, inspect the adjustment of the latch assembly. It has 2 bolts that secure it. You can loosen them and adjust the assembly to a slight more open position - so that each time you operate the latch, it releases from the catch.
Don't move the assembly too far - or the trunk will not be able to lock closed at all.
either the latch is broken, repair parts will be needed, or the catch loosened and needs adjusting. does the trunk close with a motor? have you tried unlocking the trunk? maybe the latch is in the locked position or it's stuck in the latch position. if stuck, turn the key to unlock and pry with a screwdriver
Try putting a screwdriver in to act as catch on door frame & try pulling each handle & getting it to let go. Make sure you spray it, as well as behind it & around it with WD-40 or similar to get things loosened up in case their just partially seized. The keep working it with screwdriver until freed up.
Sorry but I would need to look at the door operation first hand to see what is going on. I will say that dirt and lack of lubrication on the rails that the door slides on are the single biggest cause of this.
if you can opperate the latch use something to make sure the jaws are open should close then or try adjusting the latch or post the trouble with it opening in the first place may have been a miss adjusted latch this also may be why it wont close
