Just bought a 4wd 07 chevy tahoe LT. Was spinning out in reverse on a sheet of ice and only the rear wheels moved. did it a few times and got same result. Is the car just not 4wd in reverse? Thank you for your help?

WERE YOU in auto 4wd or 4hi? sometimes vehicles will pop out of 4wd in reverse the auto mode detects slip going forward not backwards so if in auto tes it will have problems in reverse.

06 Ram 1500 changed actuator still won't go in 4wd when turning switch , there is no light on

what transfer case is there.(BOX)
most trucks sold had 2 or more versions sold. day 1 new.
usage and repairs not the same nor tests.
fuses good.
try the truck sitting offroad, dirt/sand/gravel , ice/snow?) not on pavement but off it.
part time 4wd is not for pavement as the manual lost told you.
full time yes!, part time is for offroad or say ice/snow.
there is no FULL TIME here.
so move truck to dirt and test PART TIME 4wd
or move truck to ICE and test.

pages 308 to read are

are equipped with
either a Manually Shifted transfer case or an Electroni-
cally Shifted transfer case
When additional traction is required the transfer case 4H
and 4L positions can be used to lock the front and rear
driveshafts together and force the front and rear wheels
to rotate at the same speed. This is accomplished by
simply moving the shift lever to the desired positions.
The 4H and 4L positions are intended for loose, slippery
road surfaces only. Driving in the 4H and 4L positions on
dry hard surfaced roads may cause increased tire wear
and damage to the driveline components.
same speed MEANS PART TIME 4WD, not full.
see the ONLY word, it does not lie to you.

this may not be full time nor AWD
may be part time s, 4wd for off road use. or ON ICE
means ICE over pavement, or ICE over DIRT
6 transfer cases offered day1 new so says a real service manual this car.

1990 Ford Bronco. I dont know much about vehicles but the shifter shifts into 4 High but doesn't engage the 4-wheel drive and I can't shift it to neutral or 4 Low. Any advice is accepted thank you?

MANUAL TRANSMISSION? or auto, well no matter
the transfer case matters./
FIRST TIME EVER USING PART TIME 4WD, CAR?
IF YES IT ONLY WORKS OF ROAD OR ICE/SNOW, NO ON PAVEMENT UNLESS COVERED IN ICE SNOW.
IT IS NOT FULL TIME 4WD OR AWD.
i CAN NOT SHIFT THE 4WD LEVER TO NEUTRAL YOU MEANT?
WELL THAT MEANS YOU WOUND UP THE FRONT AND REAR AXLES LIKE A SPRING,AND THE ONLY CURE IS 1 WHEEL(TIRE) MOVE TO DIRT.?(ICE) OR MORE.
THEN IT UNWINDS.
This car has no center differential.
and is not AWD or full time 4wd,
it s part time, means (ice or dirt ) said simple
moving car like that steering goes wild and fights you.
4wd is pure ww2 jeep like or like my new jeep wrangler
the user guide lost 32 years ago tells this same story..
of dry pavement locked , are you.
jack one wheel off ground and it un-winds.
with PART time 4wd, turning the inside wheel spin slower
and you wind it up just like clock. a very unsafe practice

2002 Jeep Liberty 4x4 will not disengage?

first learn what part time 4wd means.
it means only use off roar or on ICE, the users guide even tells that
4wd is not ALW,
some jeeps have track lock that has basicall
AWD, 4H, 4L, 2WD and Neutral.
or has words center locked.
do not use 4h/4l or locked on pavement free of ice
what your are doing is vary damaging to the transfer case.
it is called WINDUP,
do not windup Front to Real like now the cure.
put 1 (at least) one tires on dirt, or ice.at dead crawl 1mph or less
now shift out of 4wd, to 2wd or AWD
or jack up one wheel, and it unwinds and can be shifted.

the other clue your are doing this all wrong
as car moves wound up, the steering wheel fights your hands

this car was sold 3 ways (besides engines/trans)
2wd only car.<< not yous sure.
4wd /2wd only transfers case (offroad only)
AWD called selectTrak. and has 4wd as choice same rule as above.

the operators guide is free and was in the glove box new.
the 2 transfer cases are both covered in the guide for SURE>

2001 4.7l diesel. Does it have a limited slip differential?

4wd or NOT, 2wd, but 4wd both ends match.
well , not wanting to pulled cover off and have GL5 lube all over
or #2 googling for all Jeep axle codes. (your call)
there is no CHEVY RPO code build list\
#3you call jeep dealer give VIN and he tells build list to you.

or the tests. #4
put car in 2wd, but one rear tire on ICE or wet grass
then move forward quick. (gas pedal

if both tires spin car moves is Positration clutch packed rear gear set.(or lockers of many kinds)
if limited slip 4 gears only then one tire on grass /ice only spins fast and car does not.
there answered all 4 ways.

ok way #5, rear tires off ground both, ON JACKS STAnds safe.
in neutral 4wd box or. if not 4wd tranny in neutral.
hand spin 1 tire and both turn same direction for locker.
if it 1 spins backwards the axle is open (limited slip)
open is 4 gears (side+ spider)
Lockers have a locker or clutch pack just like seen in the A./T BOX.

lockers have vast names. but all lock up some way.
open axles means sans/locks.
I love lockers. saved my bacon vast times. even pulling super heavy boats out of the ramp, and zero slip. 2 tires spin is JOY.
even 2wd drive with a locker is a joy. on snow and ice too.
1 wheel drive is for squids.

Possible reason why 04 chevy tahoe 4wd works up in air on lift but not on ground

the residual force makes it look like its working on a lift ,
check your wheel sensors the speed sensor determines how fast each wheel is turning say in the snow , if the sensor fails it wont go into 4 wheel drive.

2007 Chevy Tahoe sometime makes a noise on the right side of suv and when making a turn locks up and have to put in reverse and back to drive to get it to move

Wheel bearing totally shot, replace the wheel bearing. Might have to replace the spindle as well, because when the bearing locks up, it forces the outer part of bearing to spin, damaging the spindle.

4wd light says service

Does the 4-wheel drive work ? Most of the time, it is a reminder to have your fluid changed. Other times, it could be a vacuum leak in the line that engages the 4-wheel drive. Check both of those first.
