I have a 2000 Chevy Malibu that won't start. We have changed the battery four times this year. It runs fine and then I park it on my days off and then the remote won't unlock the doors, car won't start, radio, lights, etc. Husband disconnected battery cables while car was running and it continued to run so not alternator. Car will jump start and will do fine for a couple of days, but then after being parked for a day or two it's dead again.

When you disconnect the battery, you have to reset the security system and the engine immobilizer.

check the voltage to battery. battery voltage at battery should be be at least 12.6 or higher with car off. when running at battery should be at least 14.1 to 14.7, try this. get a jump start, then while running disconnect the negative cable to battery. car chould still run. but if it quits when disconnecting negative cable then you have an alternator problem. or the belt.

The sensor is probably just dirty, after washing your car, it will be fine.

have you checked for corrosion on the battery cables or tryed to jump it or had the battery tested

thats a good question. very hard problem to fix. i had a 2005 colorado i went through 4 batteries in 3 years. chevy could not find problem. they said i had a drain. never did find it sold vechicle.

i drive a 2000 chevy suburban, the way i turn off my running lights is i push the dome over head lights button four times and u will hear a ding and that indicates that they have been turned off. I usually wait for the suv to start up then i press it four times to make sure i hear the ding!!
