Diesel Engines
The 2.2L diesel engine utilizes an exposed crankshaft pulley and a hidden crankshaft timing pulley/damper. The following procedure may be used to remove the exposed crankshaft pulley. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Loosen and remove the accessory drive belts. Turn the crankshaft pulley to align the timing mark with the engine pointer. This should be done if any further procedures are being performed which might disturb valve timing. Remove the retaining bolts, then remove the crankshaft pulley. To install: Align and install the crankshaft pulley. Install the retaining bolts, then tighten to 10-17 ft. lbs. (14-23 Nm). Install the accessory drive belts, then properly adjust their tension. Connect the negative battery cable.

In the past I have had to use a 1 inch impact to brake that bolt loose. It is a monster and it is regular thread. If you dont have a big compressor and super impact I have held the engine a made a breaker bar and broke it loose that way and make sure to keep spraying it.

you can put a breaker bar and socket on the bolt and unplug a) the injectors or b) the coils so it wont start and crank it over like 2 times put the breaker bar on the pulley with the handle of the breaker bar touching the ground and u crank it and it'll break free
