Windshield washer fluid is not coming out. - 2001 Jeep Cherokee

  • Anonymous Oct 13, 2012

Disconect outlet washer plumbing at the right angle barbed nipple near the driver's side hood hinge. Next activate the washer pump via the wiper control. If fluid comes out your wiper plumbing needs to be flushed via the windshield sprayers with both high pressure water and compressed air. Next empty the washer reservoir by pumping the remaining fluid out throught the disconnected barbed nipple. Reconnect the nipple and fill the washer reservoir with Windex and not that blue stuff. Best to get a 172 fl oz jug. You will first probably get a spray a few inches in length, that's OK. Let the washer system sit overnight. Try your washers the next day and they should be working fine. It worked for me. Jim Kusely

Have you tried checking the windshield washer level in your wiper fluid. It is probably just that you ran out of fluid. You can pick up washer fluid at any gas station or supermarket.

Good luck!!

Windscreen washer on Ford Focus comes out rear instead of front most of the time.

Looks like a Body Control Module communication issue.

Windshield Washer
When the washer switch is pulled towards the driver, the SASM sends the washer request to the BCM over the LIN. The BCM activates the windshield wash relay (internal to the BCM) and sends a message to the driver side windshield wiper motor. When the BCM activates the windshield wash relay, voltage is provided to the washer pump, directing washer fluid to the windshield. When the switch is released, the windshield wiper motor continues to activate the windshield wipers for 3 additional wipes and then turns the windshield wipers off.

Washer fluid wont spray

To check to see if pump is working, remove hose at windshield and turn on and see if fluid comes out,if it does then part that shoots it to windshield is clogged,a tooth pick may work to pry it loose and come out,if no fluid comes out, then pump is bad,you can check to see if pump is getting power with a meter.

How to connect the windshild fluid hose routing

Try using a "Tooth-pic" or pin tool to clean out debris from the two spouts at the windshield. If these are clogged, and I've seen it happen hundreds of times, the washer fluid will go nowhere. It's like having your finger stuck inside a water hose......nothing will come out. Many people use water from a hose to fill the washer bottle and this water has contaminants that will clog the spout at the windshield. Also poorly made washer fluid will clog the line and thus nothing will come out. To free up the clog just use a tooth-pic to dislodge the debris. The best windshield washer fluid I could recommend to ease this problem would be a home-made batch of 40% Windex to 60% distilled water. God Luck!

The fluid wont come out the windshield wipers can u help me understand because its full of liquid but nothing comes out

Windshield washer fluid pump motor has gone bad or the wire leads have corroded, causing no connection. The Windshield washer fluid motor pump is located at the washer fluid canister. Inspect the wire leads and check for 12Volts when turned on. If there is power and the pump does not work, replace the pump.

I cannot find where to fill the rear windshield washer.

All washer fluid comes from the same reservoir. If your not getting washer fluid to the rear washer, it could either be a plugged or broken washer fluid line, or rear washer fluid pump.

Windshield washer not working properly

If you have used ANYTHING beside windshield solvent in you reservor, you may have created WAXING from soap in the bottom of washer tank, which clogs pump, lines, and nozzel....take the tank out and wash it..disconnect washer hoses at nozzel and clear with compressed air along with the nozzel...if you use solvent only you may have a worn washer pump or restriction...check those and good luck.....
