A idle speed motor will not cause your engine to run rough. It might idle high or stall. If your engine is running rough check your spark plugs and wires along with your cap and rotor first.

What sensor or valve do I replace on my 2001 Chevy impala

from what you are saying with out me checking it, the mass air flow meter is bad it is located in the air induct hose{the ********* hose going to the air filter} has a plug on it and attached to the flex air intake hose with clamps now a trick I learded first is crank car let idle take a wrench and tap the air flow meter and see if it dies or runs rough if so change the air flow sensor Good Luck MIke L.

My 97 Thunderbird is rough idling. I cleaned the bank 1 02 sensor and it still has a rough idle. I can floor it and the idle goes away.

You don't clean O2 sensors , if bad you replace them . An only if there is a DTC - diagnostic trouble code or you check out O2 sensor performance with testing , using scan tool , lab scope or multimeter . A rough idle is usaully caused by a vacuum leak , a engine misfire , IAC - idle air control air passages clogged . There are videos on youtube on how to test to find rough running problems .

2006 Honda Civic Coupe

Air filter, ECU, O2 sensor, bad EGR valve, or clogged cat converter.

Onboard diagnostic computer should be throwing codes. Autozone can check these free (as will other part stores).

1996 Honda Accord Rough Idle Even After tune up performed Changed spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor wheel along with all spark plug wires, changed fuel filter, air filter, spent $150 on fuel injector...

Perform a valve clearance inspection and adjust if necessary. Tight or sticking valves will cause a misfire or rough running concern. Note: Perform valve adjustment when the engine is stone cold. 4cyl: INT 0.26mm EXH: 0.30mm (V6 engine are hydraulic and no adjust necessary.) Also check for a sticking or stuck open EGR valve. For diagnostic purposes only: Remove the EGR valve. Place a business card over the EGR passage and bolt the EGR valve back on. This plugs the EGR ports and if the misfire goes away the EGR valve is partially stuck open and is defective.
Check for low fuel pressure. Check for low compression. Check cam timing. Check for a weak ignition coil. Also don't over look the possibility of worn or broken engine mounts which cause excessive engine movement and engine vibration. -hope this helps

Idles rough when warmed up and also idles high even with idle turned down, motor also acts like its runnin out of fuel if under hard acceleratin

It has a carburetor where the fuel and air mixture is fed to the cylinder, tuning of the engine has to done by adjusting the flow(volume) of both fuel & air. In your case the fuel flow is more and for acceleration a butterfly valve allows momentary more flow of fuel to the cylinder & piston for the engine to compensate/respond to to demand of extra power. However the air flow is constant, thus in your case more fuel but same amount of air floods the cylinder and it feels like like some thing typical choking sound...............sodeep
