I have a 2001 VW bettle 1.8l turbo. It run rough and have code P0221 acceleration pedal switch B. I replaced new pedal but it still same thing run rough and smell heavy gas. I check all vacuum hoses and other thing seam very good look. the car has 60,000 miles, do you have any situation like this before?

run fault codes to find the fault. It may be the throttle position sensor (replace accelerator pedal)

The thermostat is placed below water pump for 1,8L 20V engine, on VW Passat m.y. 1997:

that sounds like a bad throttle position sensor, do you have a check engine light?

It sounds like either the mixture is bad or you need a new 02 sensor. If you have never replaced the o2 sensor I would get that done anyway. Next I would get a general tune up and have your throttle body cleaned.

If it only runs forward then the problem will be on the reverse switch sensor. Have the reverse switch replaced and you'll be good.

disconect the batery and wait 5 mins then re conect the baterie
