The fuel filter in an Elantra, 2001 is located inside the gas tank and is part of the pump assembly. Replacement cost of the assembly is in excess of $300, and that's just the cost of the parts, not labor.
Usually, auto transmission filters are located in the bottom side of the transmission located in a pan that has several bolts on it. I think that that's the way yours is.
it probably dont have an externall filter. and only a screen inside.dont mess with the screen they never need service. if the screen were plugged it woild be because the transmission failed.
