1999 ford explorer ( air bag light)

My air bag light blinks 3 times and then 6. after that it stays on. Can you please help me?

    I have the same code flashing on my 99 Explorer. It seems that the air bag light has flashed since I bought the car. I brought it to the dealer a couple of years ago, and they said it was a shunt in the wiring harness for the optional side impact air bags. The problem was solved for about two months, then it came back. I really don't want to pay the dealer a hundred dollars every time the damned thing comes on.

    Thanks six-of-ten , one other ?, wheren would I locate and seatbelt bruckle,, is it a hard part to obtain, I'm going to remove the buckle and harness to check ? Your info was really great, thanks .

Since my last post, I found a bright yellow connector under the drivers seat. I took the connector off of the end, bent it a little, and put it back on. My air bag light has stayed off. I am going to put some electrical grease on it and see what happens.

    Thanks six-of ten. I took both connectors apart and reattached and the light went out.

I got a 98 explorer doing the same thing... First it was code 12, replaced the 10 amp fuse, now its flashing code 52... so i gotta find the airbag diag. connector... Have no idea where it is...

it is what they call a clock spring that is going bad u can fix it but its like 200 $ or dill with the light i just delt with the light

I have a code that show on CARMD about the srs light (airbag) on my dash , how do I reset or shut it off without changing an airbag
Hi there:The Restraints Control Module (RCM / located behind right side of the instrument panel) monitors the resistance of the driver side air bag circuit loop and the air bag module igniter at RCM, if the resistance is greater than 3.6 ohms, the RCM will store diagnostic trouble code B1994 and flash lamp fault code.
About the possible causes, pay attention that a high resistance on the driver side air bag circuit can be caused by:
  • - damaged wiring on circuit 1257 (WH/LB).
  • - damaged wiring on circuit 1258 (BN/LB)
  • - damaged driver side air bag module.
  • - damaged RCM.

How do i get my air bag sensor light to go off in my Ford Explorer Sport. The airbag sensor light stays on constantly, but the airbag has never deployed.
You need to have the system scanned. When the light is on there is something wrong with the air bag system. The air bag will not deploy when the system has a fault. This is something that is dangerous to drive that way because the vehicle is designed for that to go of in a crash, not to have you hit the air bag. If you have the codes retrieved as part of an estimate and post them I will tell you what to do to get the system back on line.

The airbag indicator light flashes(3-blinks a pause then 2-blinks then repeats the sequence) at engine start then stays on after a minute or so
Code 32 on the airbag diagnostic circuit indicates a drivers side air bag wiring resistance out of range. This could be the connections on the clock spring in the steering or a loose connector to the air bag in the steering wheel. If you are not familure with the proper diagnostic proceedures I do not recomend attempting to repair it yourself. If the air bag circuit is not de-energized before removal there is a possibility of air bag deployment when removing it.

Airbag light flashes 3 times then 6 times then stays on
This is for the driver's side air bag.
This may be due to a high resistance or poor connections in the side air bag (SAB) wiring harness circuits or restraints control module. This condition may occur on vehicles equipped with, or without, side air bags.
Ford has a Technical Service Bulletin out on this no. 03-24-1.
To service, install an overlay harness which incorporates soldered terminals and tin wiring. Refer to the service procedure for direction on which side air bag kit to order. Installation instructions and illustrations are included in the kit.
FOR VEHICLES WITHOUT THE (SAB), FOURTH DIGIT OF VIN IS "Y" OR "Z" :
  1. Install a new Non-SAB wire harness kit 3L2Z-14B455-AB. Refer to the installation instruction sheet included in the kit.
FOR VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH (SAB), FOURTH DIGIT OF VIN IS "C" OR "D" :
  1. Install the appropriate harnesses as indicated below. Refer to the installation instruction sheet included in the kit.
    • 1999-2001 4DR Limited Explorer XL2Z-14B455-DB
    • 1999-2001 4DR Explorer (except Limited) and Mountaineer XL2Z-14B455-AC
    • 1999-2000 2DR Explorer XL2Z-14B455-BC
    • 2001 2DR Explorer 1L2Z-14B455-AC

Air bag code
I strongly suspect you have a bad connection or corroded connection at one of your connectors.

Here's the LFC (lamp Fault Codes) for 36:

B1993 36 22 Driver Side Air Bag Circuit Shorted to Ground GO to Pinpoint Test V . B1992 36 24 Driver Side Air Bag Circuit Shorted to Battery or Ignition GO to Pinpoint Test W . B1994 36 26 Driver Side Air Bag Circuit Resistance High GO to Pinpoint Test X . B1995 36 28 Driver Side Air Bag Circuit Resistance Low GO to Pinpoint Test Y .

Air bag lite wont turn off in 1999 explorer sport
the light is blinking a fault code at u, but here is the most common cause of the airbag light staying on, it is caused by a break in the flat ribbon rotating contact under the steering wheel, this contact assembly is called the clock-spring contact, u must dis-arm the airbag system and remove the steering wheel to replace it.
