The most likely problem is that the crankshaft position sensor failed but it could be another component that gave up. If you are near any of the auto parts franchises (Advance, AutoZone, etc.), you can borrow a code scanner bring it to the car and check it out. They will need a credit card but his is a great, free, way to diagnose problems.

you have a short in a wire. Best way to trouble shoot this is with a meter on the battery . Pull out on Fuse at a time until the Draw on the battery stops. Then see what that fuse operates and go from there.

does the car ever run low with fuel? this can cause the pump to go in them completely or pick up dirt from the bottom and pump it through and clog injectors up. as for the relay things like fuel pump are normally in the main fuse box under the bonnet it should be a 5 pin 30amp relay. and it should like like the rest of the relays. try swapping a few around if you cant locate the one that says it if you have your manual it should help isolating which one the actual relay is

My 2000 hyandai elantra started slowing down by itself and filled with gas fumes inside. We changed the fuel filter and it will not turn over to start. It will also not roll start.

If you got a strong oder of fuel in the cab. I would say you have a sever fuel leak. Check for fuel leaks. Now if when you say it wont turn over and you mean the engine wont crank over. Then you might want to pull some of the plugs just to make sure the cylinders are not full of fuel. if that be the case you have some leaking injectors
