Change oil & filter - Dodge Ram b150 van

Might be good to install good mechanical oil pressure gauge to see what's giong on. If pressure is actually low, main bearing may be ruined.

What is the weight of the oil? Heavier oil will cause a sluggish start/spin in cold weather. 15W40 is heavy. This can kill a battery in no time. Other problems are related to hot/overheated problems.

THE 2.4L ENGINES USE 5W-30 3.3L AND 3.8L ENGINES USE 5W - 20

Go under the car and locate the oil pan directly beneath the engine and use a wrench to remove the drain bolt after placing a container under it. If you need to change the oil filter, that is also accessed from underneath, and you will need an appropriate sized oil filter wrench to remove it. (It is not always necessary, although desirable, to change the filter with every oil change.)

Replace the filter by dipping your finger into fresh oil and coating the rubber gasket then simply screw it on and tighten it 3/4 turn beyond hand-tight using the filter wrench. Replace the drain plug and pour in the amount and type of oil specified in your owner's manual. Run engine a few minutes and check for leaks at the filter.

Use any popular brand of oil that you trust to be good. Use only (sae 10w-30 oil) in the spring and summer months. And use (sae 5w-30 oil) in the winter months. Change the oil and filter every 3,000 miles to prevent engine problems.Hope this will help you.

the idle air control is on the back of the throttle body. it has a plug going to it and is held to the throttle body with 2 screws

I don't have a owners maual either but I beleive its 10 liters.Use 15w40 ams oil with ams oil filter.7500-10000 miles for filter changes and 20000 miles between oil changes

do not use 10W-40W, it will starve the engine rod and main bearings, use the 5W-20W as recommended, also thicker oils can blow the oil filter off, seen it a number of times.

I had a 1994 Dodge Ram same as you have it sounds. The Red Dodge Ram I had it malfunctioned and my brake became the throttle. I had to put the truck in reverse then park to stop it. Are you sure its not electrical and the curse control is not giving you trouble? Mine had multifunction switch was not working and the headlight switch burned up. I also found out that Audi had problem with the brake becoming the throttle in the 1980s Daimler Chrysler and Audi were German made. I don't think there is an easy answer. I hope you stay safe.
