I have a 1994 mustang gt 5.0L Ho. I replaced my distributor and I'm trying to get my car in time. How do I tell when piston 1 is at TDC so I can l line up the rotor with #1 spark plug... The factory...

Formally, the number 1 cylinder is the cylinder that is "top-dead center to fire" when the timing marks on the crankshaft and camshaft gears are aligned.

To make it easier, the cylinder numbers are often stamped into the intake manifold, usually right next to the intake port, and also in a picture of all cylinders someplace on the manifold. It is also often on the EPA emissions sticker.

In an inline engine, number one is usually in the front, nearest the water pump.

4 or 6 cylinder straight blocks No. 1 is always the first one next to the pulleys. On a V block, if you look down at the top of the engine, No. 1 will be slightly forward. It can be on either side of the motor, but most likely on the drivers side.

Also, need check the PCM for someone short; sometimes this is the reason it wasn't sending a signal to the coil. You have constant power at the coil but the ground signal doesn't fluctuate from on to off while the engine is cranking. If the hall effects switch in the distributor is bad it won't tell the PCM when to fire the coil and the hall effect switch also operates the tachometer. So if this switch is bad the tach and the coil would not work.

Good luck.

I wanna know if the 1985 mustang gt 5.0 ho is electric choke or manual choke

Electric choke from the factory, the choke pull off runs off of power from the alternators stator post which supplies about 7 volts when its running.Spring tension and a stomp on the throttle set it.

My headlights won't come on. I replaced the headlight switch about a month ago. I went to Autozone to see if another switch would work and it didn't. What could I do to fix the problem. I have a 1991 Ford...

Did you check the wiring when you replace the switch? Some times the plug that you plug into the light will be melted or burnt. I know cause I had 2 - 5.0 stangs and both did the samething. Is the car equip with fog lights? If so I would disconnect them. I found that the fog lights on my 89 gt cause the head light switch to over heat and melt. On both I had to repair the wiring at the plug.
