Erratic Speedo operation 02 Lancer auto

The speedo seems to just quit and stays at 60.Sometimes I wack the dash and it starts working and other times it just sits there until I turn the key off.The dealer replaced the speed sensor in the trans but that didnt help at all.Now they want to start throwing parts at it and I cant afford that.Any help would be greatley appreciated

Did you ever find a solution. I also have an 02 Lancer and it does the exact same thing. Sometimes it works ok then it goes to 60 and stays there.Any solution would be greatly appreciated.

what ever your last reading was on your odometer thats where it will start to work from. so it will be like you got a new one from like autozone. i hope thats what you wanted to know

What do you mean cluster contacts bad !Whats the solution?

Remove the speedometer head unit, and check the soldered joints on the back. It's a common problem with these and some Chrysler products. "Randomly" is when the crack closes and makes contact, like if you hit the top of the dash and it starts working again. The speedometer head cluster.

Ford transit van dashboard display not working

ive got a 55 plate 85 T260 swb crewcab 68000 miles, , i bought it 12 months ago, red light flashes on dash board most days, some times arratically, sometimes quite slow, and all clocks, speedo and dash does not work?????????
the smallest scratch and the van rusts, no under seal, there just a use it and dump it van.

More then likely the tiny electric motor called the "stepper motor" is defective, a common failure.

Speedometer works intermittently

other than maybe a loose connection idk about your speedo problem, but your belt problem, you should check all of your pulleys, make sure none of them are seized, or starting to go out.
