Double check the code... there is no code p3040. You probably mixed up the numbers, but it makes all the difference in the world having the correct code. See if you can get it and post it here.

Are you sure that's the correct code #? I can't it listed.

PO304. Is an engine misfire on coil #4,if that was the code?? Converters last 10 or 15 years if nothing harms them.

2008 jeep cherokee hemi engine light its on i brought to fix it and they change 4 sensor and the cadilac converter.

You need to have PCM / ECM - engine computer checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes an go from there ! there are hundreds of codes these newer vehicles can set ! I hope these people who changed the sensors an catalytic converter checked codes first ! You never ever just replace parts !!!!!!!! A DTC will lead in a diagnostic direction ! 98 Honda Civic HX sputters when accelerating. Feels bogged down and lacking power.

Time for the dealer to take a look. You need special skill and special tools to diagnose this not to mention years of experience with electronic engine control systems.

Honda civic 1998 EX check engine light on codes p300 p0301 p302 p303 p304

I don't think it is your catalytic converter because your light usually flashes and a bad cat I never heard of them causing a misfire. I ran your other code it is for a faulty EGR system. Exhaust gas recirculation excessive. You are getting too much exhaust gas back in the system. This will cause your misfire. Go-to a trusted mechanic and have them check out your EGR system.

I have a 96 Honda Civic HX. When I am at idle the car starts to shake and the rpms fall almost to zero. I took the car to a mechanic and was told that I need a new Catalytic Converter and the EGR ports...

Yes and No. The EGR can cause the car to idle rough and or stall. I am assumeing the check engine light was on and set code for EGR and Catalytic Converter. If the engine isn't running right it is possible the cat won't work right due to improper air fuel ratio that the EGR is causing. To do repair proper the EGR should be fixed then clear codes and see if the code for Catalytic Converter. There are other reasons that would your car to idle rough or stall I am just assuming that this mechanic got codes or tested the EGR right.

I replaced the Timing belt on my 97 civic HX, I also replaced the distributor cap, rotor and plugs since I had it all open. I hand turned the crank counter clockwise to TDC it starts right up but once warm...

You need to check the mechanical timing which means bring the engine to TDC firing stroke and being very sure that the notch on the front lower engine pulley lines up to the number zero after that look to make sure the cam sprocket or sprockets and there corresponding timing mark line up to the reference points if one is off a tooth you must reset. I suspect on is off that is why you must do this check. after this check the timing with a timing light to ensure it is timed via turning distributor to its correct setting I suspect 10 - 12 degrees BTC.
