Sounds like either a coil pack or a crank sensor is your problem..have seen this problem before

My truck won't go out first gear

1996 Dodge ram 1500 NO ENGINE TOLD OF 5.GAS ENGINES
3.9 TO 8.0LITERS. AND A DIESEL NOT YOURS.
POST YOUR VIN AND WE KNOW WHAT ENGINE IS THERE. X5

SO IS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION?, YOU DID NOT SAY DRIVE IS STUCK IN 1ST GEAR.?
PRNDL
DOES REVERSE AND LO(L) WORK?
CHECK FUSES?
SCAN IT YET?
CHANGE SPARK PLUGS 1 AT A TIME?
IF YOU MESSED UP SPARK THE ENGINE WOULD SHAKE SUPER HARD AND HORRIBLE POWER AND NOT GO FAST ENOUGH TO GET TO 2ND GEAR.
IF ENGINE (NONE TOLD ) HAS COIL PACK WITH 2 OR MORE SPARK WIRES, THOSE MUST NEVER BE MIXED UP.

3.9 LITER
SPARK
The front coil pack fires six cylinders and the rearward coil pack fires four cylinders.
NEVER MIX THESE UP
5/10, 9/8, 1/6, 7/4 and 3/2.
END 3.9L EXAMPLE.

ONLY CHANGE SPARK PLUG 1 AT A TIME.
ONLY CHANGE COIL PACK HV SPARK WIRES, 1 AT A TIME
OR FAIL YOU WILL. (OR BUY NGK COIL PACKS THAT ARE MARKED CORRECTLY )1e5a17e7-8de3-4f88-ab32-e4faa85901d5.jpg

I have a 97 Dodge neon that sounds like it's running on 2 cylinders. I've changed the plugs, wires, coilpack, and fuel filter and still no change. I also took the #1 plug wire and the car doesn't die

What you describe here leads me to believe blown head gasket. Check radiator coolant level, then do a compression test on all four cylinders. You should have 115-150 compression in each cylinder. If your reading is down to about 25-75 on two of your cylinders. you will have your answer. If the car is still worth keeping change the head gasket and get another two years of driving.GOOD LUCK FRIEND.

What size engine does a 2000 Pontiac Grand am have and does it have spark plugs?

It will either have a four cylinder 2.4 liter or a 6 cylinder 3.4 liter.

The 2.4 liter will have four plugs located under the cover on top of the engine. The cover can be removed by removing the four bolts with a 13mm socket, unplugging the connector on the drivers side, and lifting up.

The 3.4 liter will have three plugs on the fron and three plugs on the back. You can follow the plug wires from the coil to the spark plugs. Remove the wires from the plugs and remove/install.

What is the proper plug wire sequence on the ditributor cap for a 1998 Dodge Dakota 4 cilinder?

For all Dodge 4 cylinder engines, the firing order is 1-3-4-2
All dodge distributors rotate clockwise.
Standing on passenger side number 1 is at bottom left or 7:00 o clock.
going clockwise number 3 plug wire is next then number 4 then last one is number 2 wire.
plug wire number 1 is 7:00 o clock
plug wire number 3 is 11:00 o clock
plug wire 4 is 1:00 o clock
Plug wire number 2 is 5:00 o clock

I need to know the timing sequence for a 1998 Mercury Mystique 2 liter

ignition timing or valve timing?

ignition timing not setable.

info:
The ignition system consists of an ignition coil, spark plug wires and spark plugs.
The crankshaft position sensor signal is the basis for ignition timing calculations. The alternating voltage signal from the crankshaft position sensor is digitized by the powertrain control module. This digitized signal is then used to position the closing time of the primary circuit of the ignition coil.
Ignition angle is determined by the powertrain control module in response to engine operating conditions. Once ignition angle has been determined, the powertrain control module interrupts the current to the primary circuit of the ignition coil thus triggering the ignition spark which is supplied to the cylinders through the spark plug wires and spark plugs.
The ignition coils are triggered by the powertrain control module in pairs (cylinders 1 and 4 and cylinders 3 and 2) sending one ignition spark to the firing cylinder and one ignition spark to the corresponding cylinder on the exhaust stroke. This make sures that any unburnt fuel residues remaining in the cylinder on the exhaust stroke are re - ignited to provide cleaner exhaust emissions.
