Humming noise is the left wheel bearing. Gas mileage could be from the brakes if they are dragging. Drive it , then put you hand on the wheels, be care they could be really hot. You should be able to touch the wheels and keep it them there for a few seconds. If really hot, you can't touch them for even a second. Check calipers and brake hoses.
It's most likely the left wheel bearing that's causing the noise, when turning to the right the weight of the car shifts to the left placing more load on the left wheel bearing and takes load off the right bearing.
does it get louder above 45-60mph? and much quieter at low speeds. It could be wheel bearings, a rear differential or front differential. If its a grinding humming noise its wheel bearings, listenin to see if theyre coming from the front or rear, left or right, or both when your driving to know what wheel bearing are bad. If its a whinning noise, its probably a differential. check and listen to hear if its coming from the front or rear. Also, check for loose plastic around the wheels. Lastly check your tires for uneven or choppy wear. move your hands front to back on the top of the tire. does it feel really choppy and rough, maybe you just need new tires
hello
most of the time when there is a humming noise other then a brake noise you have a wheel bearing bad the best way to tell if it is a wheel bearing making noise is while you are driving down the road and the vehicle is making the noise slightly turn the steering wheel left to right if the noise changes at all replace the wheel bearings gm cars are notorious for wheel bearing
good luck chris
when turning left vehicle distributes weight to right front wheel bearing causing load. since u describe a noise in right front while driving straight i would suspect failed right front wheel bearing. see if your noise changes/goes away while turning right that should tell u 4 sure
Hello! If the humming noise is speed related(gets louder as vehicle speed increases)check front wheel bearings. If the noise goes away when turning one way or the other then it will most likely be in the front wheel bearing. If you turn the wheel(while moving)to the right and the noise goes away it is on the right side. If you turn the wheel to the left and the noise goes away its on the left side. Hope this information helps!
My advise is when u get a humming noise when banking left or right. Its beter to change both left and right wheel bearing and ball joints. Cause if u think about it those parts are put on at the same time . So if u think about it they have the same where in Terre . left or right hope this helps you.
