Even you reset its going to come out again until you didn't fix the problem. To reset, you need the OBDII, or you can do it in the battery by removibg the negative terminal and turn the key ON don't start the car, then just make a spark on the battery by touching fast the negative cable to the negative of the battery, now turn OFF the key, then, spark it again until no more spark, then put it back the cable to the battery. This is not adviceable according to the dealer.

it all part of your exhaust system, replace entire thing from motor to tailpipe and be done with it. catalyst evaporator is part of the catalytic converter thats part of yr exhaust system designed to remove impurities, they wear out and have platinum in them thats y they r sooo expensive

Catalyst evaporative system

No such thing. Are you confusing the catalytic converter in the exhaust with the evaporative emissions system that routs fuel tank vapors to a charcoal canister and then into the engine to be burned?

The catalytic converter just takes the exhaust gas through it, and by a chemical reaction with the rare metals in the converter acting as a catalyst, it burns most of the remaining hydrocarbons (unburnt fuel) in the exhaust for a cleaner, less polluting exhaust.

P0420 SUBARU - Catalyst System Efficiency Below Thresholdxicon.jpghttp://engine-codes.com/p0420_subaru.htmlForum CodePossible causes- Three way catalyst converter Bank 1
- Exhaust tube
- Intake air leaks
- Fuel injectors may be faulty
- Fuel injector leaks
- Spark plugs may be faulty
- Improper ignition timing
- Engine Control Module (ECM) Tech notes The most common cause is the three way catalytic converter Bank 1 is worn out. Changing just the catalyst O2 sensor usually does not repair the problem. If the P0420 code is combined with other codes, try fixing the other codes first.

I have two diagnostic codes that are waiting to reset, The Evap and Catalyst. How long till they reset?

Have you tried disconnecting the battery cable to reset. If the codes reset, but return after driven a little then the problem will have to be rechecked and find out if the evaporator needs replaced unless you have already fixed the problem. Sometimes the codes can be rest by the battery, but some will reset after driving 100 miles.

2001 Ford F150, need to know On Board Diagnostic reset timeframe

Take it to auto zone and have them scan the computer to see if there's codes. If you want to reset it by driving it might take up to 100 miles and you'll have to drive it in the city and freeway until the computer relearns all of its settings. I would just take to auto zone and have them reset it, its faster.

1997toy.camry.wont pass deq.?drive cycle is unready.

You'll have to go through the drive cycle. I don't have it offhand but it will take a bit of driving. Try Googling "toyota drive cycle" to find specifics.

My car dos not pass DEQ the check engine is not on but the things that came up as unready are catalyst, evaporative, O2 sensor, O2 heater and they say i need t drive the car more because the battery was...

the items listed here are all two drive cycle monitors. which means there must be two consecutive tests of the systems. separated by some amount of time. resetting the system will clear the monitor data and the process will start over.
