Sorry, not the thermostat. Check the coolant level and refill and locate the leak. I suspect the waterpump, make sure the belt is turning the waterpump. Do not drive an overheating engine.

My heating isn't working, it sometimes works but majority of the time it blows cold. Also when the engine is running, there seems to be a noise coming from the engine, could these be related? Engine temp...

No heat or low heat in a water cooled engine is worthy of an immediate check as major damage to engine could be the result of continuing to drive it. Things to check:

These two things may cause no heat and possible not ever show as a problem on the temp gauge or temp warning light until far to late:
Low coolant/antifreeze level
Frozen coolant/antifreeze
Stuck thermostat

Other possibilities that may/may not show other signs of trouble as well:
Failing water pump (this would also explain some noise, typically like a grinding, scraping or bad bearing noise)
Slipping belt (Typically associated with the famous belt squealing or chirping noise)
Clogged radiator and/or heater core
Non-operating temperature control valve
Stuck thermostat

Hope this helps!

Heater temp guage does not work and takes to long for car to heat up

You may also want to check and see if the thermastat is working. If the thermastat is stuck open in cold weather car will take forever to warm up.This controlls the water flo from the engine to radiator.this will also make car run much colder(temp gauge will not register much change).

Got a 96 crown vic that runs but smoking white smoke from under the hood and it runs hot ....the resevoir is full so there is no leak there and i replaced the thermostat but it didnt work

you ether have a coolant leak or one of these are the problem thermastat, fan clutch, water pump, radiator, try this start car when it reachs normal temp open hood and pinch the top radiator hose if it is hot water is flowing thermastat is good now open radiator with a towel slowly while it is runing see if the water is moving if it is you water pump and radiator are good, now at some point in this time you should have heard the fan get loud if not your fan clutch is not work it mounts to the front of your water pump and is normal to go out because they lose about 250rpm a year which does not give them much of a life, dont forget to check your heater hoses they could be leaking

Thermastat

when the engine is at normal running temp, feel the water hose on the bottom of the radiator.if it is hot then ur thermostat is fine, and its more likely to be a head gasket or airlock problem

93 Celica getting Hot

Sounds like your water pump may be going out.If the fan is mounted on the water pump, grab the fan on each side and try to wiggle it.If it moves side to side any its bad.
