Lost power and Black smoke:

You have a Failed MAP Sensor and / or the vacuum line is off or cracked.

The ECU thinks the engine is under full load and is getting all the fuel it can to the engine.

Hope this tip helps guide you to solve this problem.

Hi
It is very higly likely that the EGR valve is at fault, this is a Exhaust Gas Recycler" Valve it basically reuses any unburnt fuel and fores it back through the engine, when they fail you get a big loss of power and black smoke from the exhaust, is the back of the car all sooted up?

EGR vavles cost around £130 ish but this can depend on the model. try ebay also.

You can very often clean the EGR valve with carb cleaner and they will work again, how long is unpredicatable I had one go and cleaned it lasted 8mths! so certainly worth a try before buying another.

If you need more info please let me know, I can show you the loaction of the part and how to remove and replace it yourself, very easy and dealer labour is about £40 an hour so again worth a go.

Hope this helps
Regards
Dan
