Its a 1999, have a bg trany flush done, this is done with a cleaner added to fluid, then a machine is used, it hoohs up to line of trany, it then flushes out 100% of the old fluid, this is the best way, also trany oil should be changed every 30,000 miles.hope this is helpful, also check out there website,@ www.bg.com for more info.

Reverse went out and no overdrive 1996 Chevy Silverado

  1. ransmission fluid: Low or dirty transmission fluid can cause a range of transmission issues, including loss of reverse and overdrive. Check the transmission fluid level and condition, and consider flushing and replacing the fluid if it is dirty or low.
  2. Transmission filter: A clogged transmission filter can restrict the flow of fluid through the transmission and cause issues with reverse and overdrive. Consider replacing the transmission filter and flushing the fluid to see if this resolves the issue.
  3. Shift solenoid: The shift solenoid is responsible for controlling the flow of fluid through the transmission to engage different gears. If the solenoid is faulty or damaged, it can cause issues with reverse and overdrive. Consider having the shift solenoid tested and replaced if necessary.
  4. Valve body: The valve body is a complex component within the transmission that helps to control the flow of fluid and engage different gears. If the valve body is damaged or worn, it can cause issues with reverse and overdrive. Consider having the valve body inspected and replaced if necessary.
  5. Internal transmission damage: If none of the above issues resolve the problem, there may be internal damage within the transmission that is causing the loss of reverse and overdrive. In this case, it may be necessary to have the transmission rebuilt or replaced.
It's important to address these issues promptly to prevent further damage to the transmission or other components in your Chevy Silverado

When should you get a transmission flush

I dont see why it would cause damage. Your transmission Fluid is alot like like regular oil. It needs to be replaced here and there. being that your car is an 06' It should be replace between 30,000-100,00 miles so youre probably due for one. The reason for this is, is because Over time when TF (transmission fluid) is heated up anywhere above 175 degrees it begins to oxidate and turn brown and it looses it lubricative qualities. thus putting a strain on your transmission with more heat and friction. so i'd say yeah get it done.

Transmission Issue. I have a 2005 Altima SE-R, 3.5L, auto trany. The transmission jerks, sometimes quite hard, while downshifting between 2nd and 1st usually when coming off the highway onto an off ramp...

This can be caused by a number of things, like a dirty transmission filter, sticky solenoid valve, or worn out transmission fluid. I would recommend that you change the fluid and filter as this should resolve the issue. Seafoam makes a transmission treatment that will not harm your transmission, is compatible with all fluid types, and resolves issues such as the one that you are experiencing. I would recommend that you use a can of it when you have your fluid and filter changed. Most people never change their transmission's fluid, and this is a major mistake, it would be the just like not changing your engine oil, causing premature damage. Transmissions do not require that you change the fluid as often as the engine oil, but nevertheless it is a fluid and does break down after extended periods of use.

2001 nissan max transmission not changing properly it only shifts once, also fluid has never been changed could this be the problem or something else

I would recommend a fluid and filter change for your transmission, and make sure that you use the recommended Nissan Type Transmission Fluid so that you do not damage the transmission. If that is not the issue, then have the shift solenoid's checked as they will cause this to happen as well. The fluid and filter change is the least expensive of the two and that is more than likely what the issue is.

I am restoring a 1983 Dodge van with 40,000 mi. It has been stored indoors for twelve years. The transmission fluid looks right, and smells right. I'm concerned about replacing fluid to the tranny, having...

You will be fine to replace the fluid using the proper variety (or compatible modern alternative) of transmission fluid. The main concern that replacing transmission fluid in an older vehicle is that if the fluid has not ever been changed during the life of the vehicle, or not nearly often enough, that varnish which has built up on the internal passages and mechanisms of the transmission will be mobilized due to the detergent action of fresh transmission which can permanently damage the transmission. This is normally only an issue if you were to change the fluid in a car which had run for over 100,000 miles without ever having the transmission fluid changed before.

1998 malibu shifts and operates fine when warm, if cold out (northern Michigan) car won't move until car gets warm, then operates smoothly and properly

In your neck of the wood you need to have a block heater to keep the car warm at temperatures that are below freezing will cause the transmission fluid and oil to gel, in the transmission the oil does not stay on all parts so if it freezes it can damage the transmission. There are additives you can add that will help with this problem however if the clutches freeze or the seals freeze you will damage the transmission. So if you can add transmission additive called Lucas conditioner and or change the fluid to synthetic transmission fluid the same with the motor oil. A block heater or synthetic motor oil with extreme cold the oil will drain off on all engine parts and transmission parts and can cause a dry start condition or no oil on major components in the transmission will cause damage to the transmission. The rubber seals in both the engine and transmission will get damaged and can be destroyed and cost you a lot of money.
