There is nothing to grease. Someones playing with your head. There was a tech bulletin out, on the steering squeeking. I would flush the power steering fluid. I have a 2004. Let us know from time to time how it's doing

Clicking noise turning right

Could be a tire hitting the inner fender skirting. Check both front tires to see if they are clean/scraped right at the tread and side. This is a good indication that the tire is rubbing something. Also, since your turning right, you put more weight of the vehicle on the left side. You might want to check the front and rear wheel bearings on the left. I've heard them click before, but only under pressure.

If its not the bearing and your Mercury is front wheel drive, it could be the "CV" joints.

Is the wheel rubbing the brake caliper?

Is something like the wheel well liner rubbing the tire(airflow pushing it into tire)?

Jack the tire off the ground and rotate it by hand. Push in & out at the top, sides, and bottom of the tire. Little or no play is considered acceptable. If you get a "clunking" sound and/or a lot of play the bearing(s) are bad. (If front wheel drive, chock rear tires, put transmission in neutral so you can rotate tire.)

Hope this helps.

Hi there,

it could be:

>wheels rubbing on inside of wheel arch
>steering linkage hitting something

Try putting the car on a lift/ if you can, and get someone to steer it full lock to full lock both sides whilst you observe the steering mechanism, then you might be able to see what's happening.

Have a nice day :)

Rubbing coming from front passenger side tire?

I presume that the tyre you have replaced is with the same specification size as on the either side, If so you need to check if the tyre is rubbing against the mudflaps or the mudguard specially when the side is loaded or the wheel is turned to one side. Lift up the side with a jack, turn the wheel to either side and check if there is enough gap on the sides. If you had replaced the tyre after a burst/puncture, had run the car after this had happened, then the wheel alignment must be looked in specially for the tow in/ out. Check for the wheel position using a thread held against the rear wheel and the front wheel postioned with a slight inner view, check the wheel from the top to bottom with a plumline. You will get some indication if there had been any shift in the chassis or the suspension. press down the side up and down to hear any creaking, if so check on your suspension parts, the lower arm, the roll bars and the strut/ shock absorbers. You have the problem lurking around here. Hope my advice helps you out. Good luck good day

While driving i hear a rubbing sound passenger side front end the faster i go the louder it gets i just got it back from the shop they can not find the cause all 4 wheels turning freely on lift

Sounds like one of three things. A bad bearing would make a rubbing sound and get worse the faster you traveled. A warped rotor could also produce that sensation. Lastly but not as likely is a stuck caliper. Since the wheels turned freely on a lift, the caliper isn't as likely as the first two but still a possibility. I'd take the car to a brake shop and have a free diagnosis done. I'm still leaning toward a bad bearing. Best of luck and thank you for using Fixya!
