I have 97 4runner sr5 (not 4wd) it has 244K miles on it - i took it in for an oil change and i was told that it is recommended that i get an "enging flush" and also a "radiator flush". I just checked out the toyot scheduled maintenance and i don't see anything in there about "flushes" - are "flushes" considered the same as "replace engine coolant?" also, if you can think of any other preventative maintenance that i should have completed at this time, i would appreciate your input - i am need this car to last me as long as possible! THANKS!

The only engines I have ever seen that needed to be "flushed" were engines that had used Quaker State oil for a long time. Usually about the only good way to tell is your engine is gummed up is to remove the oil pan of the intake manifold and see how much residue is built up in the engine. If your radiator has rust in it and the cap & gasget have rust deposits on them and or the overflow resivoir tank has rust in it thenn I would say to drain and flush the coolant system. If there is no rust, the coolant is the orinigal coolant color and the engine is not overheating it does not need to be flushed. Follow the reccomendations of the coolant manufacturer as far as to the length of use before draining and replacing with fresh coolant.

When I went to get an oil change I was told to come back when my indicator said 10%--I drove 4 months and It was only at 80% if I wait for 10% it may be a year?

How many miles have you driven in 4 months?---You are going by the oil life percentage indicator when you read that message...
I don't recommend doing this...Change your oil every 3000 miles, or every 5000 if use a synthetic oil....I hope this helps,

We recently upgraded our oil so that we only have to change the oil every 5000 miles instead of 3000 miles. We are also now seeing on our odometer screen "Oil Pressure Low - Stop Engine Now". ...

I would not drive the car. I would have the oil pressure checked with a mechanical oil pressure gauge to verify that you really have an oil pressure problem. There is a possibility that the oil pressure sensor or wiring is bad causing the light to come on. Hope this helps :)

How often should i change my oil in my 2008 dodge caliber

If you like your car, change every 2,500 miles. Manufacturers say longer, and that seems to work, but oil change is pretty cheap compared to oil related failures...

Hmm with 150,000 miles i really doubt anything
It could be just a coincidence.

They could have possibly left something in the oil pan that caused the pick up tube to become blocked somewhat.
