SOURCE: Can a frame on a 2003 Hyundai Elantra be fixed?
what they told you is true. the frame is the backbone of the car, and if you start with a bent up crooked frame, you're going to waste time on an alignment that will never be correct. the body shop will have to put the car on a frame puller. take off the bumper, the fender, and whatever else will allow them to gain access to the pulling points. they have to take their time and measure very carefully. this IS an exact science at this level. and it's one of those rare situations where it's expensive, but worth every penny because it will prevent future unneeded issues.
