Will not raise in cold weather? do they go up in warm weather ? you may have condensate in your air lines that freezes . Evacuate the lines and clear the compressor drain .

SOURCE: grunting and squealing sound from the right rear strut area

a worn strut could make that noise but it could also be the strut mount its self the only true way to see if it is the problem is to remove it from the vechicle. but if you dont feel the need to do this try spraying some rust check or lubricant onto everything that you see that moves. i hope this helps.

SOURCE: Shocks or struts?

I have 161,000 on my 00 Runner. Have had the shocks/struts changed TWICE.... (thats cause I have FUN with mine over the years) Personally, I would go with what the dealership says, then just replicate that at a good shop for cheaper price.

SOURCE: very noisy squeky fron suspension on jaguar xj8

You might need a lube job or you may need to see if noise is coming from another place such as your engine water pump, brakes, power steering. Look for leaks.

Have an alignment performed on your vehicle, they will inspect your suspension completely and advise you of any components that need to be replaced. There is no way to tell you without inspecting your vehicle personally

06 Lincoln navigator front left air spring is flat and not operating

Try this from my previous post....

Have a similar problem... My 2003 Lincoln Navigator was manufactured May 22, 2003 so it's the late model that came with the Intec 5.4 Liter DOHC V-8 (not the Triton engine).

I replaced the two front ride height sensors (one for each air strut) and replaced the one rear ride height sensor that controls the ride height for BOTH rear air struts. (Yours may have one ride height sensor for each of the rear air struts.) That solved the problem for a few months during the warm months, until the weather started cooling off. Then back to the same issue.

The front passenger air strut started releasing air from the solenoid (air block) making a "hissing sound." Replaced BOTH front air strut solenoids (connected at the top of each air strut). That also resolved the problem for a few days. After going all around the world, I discovered it's the Air Ride Control Module (ASM) that was the problem all along.

This is most likely the culprit for your air ride suspension problem.

Our 2005 Navigator is like sitting on it's front wheels. The air suspension is not working. Last fall we had an issue with the driver's front side not leveling. The dealership replaced a piston looking...

Anyone with a Mountaineer or Explorer should remove
the Factory Air Suspension, and replace with conventional
shocks/struts.

There are lots of companies with those products

I do not believe, even a dealer can resolve all the
issues,especially with the Mountaineer

When you go over 2 or 3 thousand dollars trying to keep
believing, you can get it to work, you will switch from
the air ride, and end what should have never been on
those vehicles in the first place.

2006 Navigator air suspension works fine until the weather gets cold then after the vehical sets over night some times the front suspension will be down. The bags don't appear to be leaking and the problem...

I suggest you remove most of that Air System and
replace with conventional shocks/struts etc

You will spend a few thousand, before you take my advice,
if you continue to try and diagnose those issues.

It is a system not worth working on

Read other peoples problems and a few I offered that
idea to, and they were happy to switch over, at any cost,
so they could use their veh again

The air shock suspension will not raise the front of the car. There is a rumbling noise but it will not raise the car.

More then likely you have an air system hose that has dry rotted and developed a spit or an air bag that has done the same. Replace BOTH front air struts. Also you may want to turn off the air suspension before you burn up the compressor. You can get the air struts relatively cheaply online at strutmasters.

I need shocks, they have never been replaced in 107K miles. Does this car have 4 shocks or 2 shocks and 2 struts

Thr front will be MacPherson struts, a shock absorber surrounded by a coil spring looking set-up.

FOR THE REAR:
If you have front wheel drive and you have Electronic Ride Control (ERC), then the rear suspension has "super lift air shocks".

If you have all wheel drive, then you have struts in the rear suspension.

Does help any?
