My alarm activates and interior light comes on when door is

Each door has a switch on the door opening that turns the light on when it is open, one of them is faulty or the door is not closing it.

check all doors are closed properly and the boot, as they can cause an alarm to activate, as they can cause the interior light to come on and set alarm off, check door pin contacts are free and working that cause the light to come on, idea wd40 oil around contacts, to clean and free up. Go sit in your truck and close all the doors. Light stays on right? Put your key in the ignition. Does the chime start going off when you put the key in? If so, door switch or the GEM thinks a door is open.

To find out which door... Leave the key in the ingntion. Turn to the on position. Even with doors closed, chime sounds once after a few seconds and door ajar light comes on and stays on right? Open each door one by one. The chime should sound each time you open a door. When you find the door that doesn't make the chime sound when you open it, that is the problem. (Don't forget to try the rear hatch and the hatch glass also!) To determine if the switch is bad or if the GEM is having a problem thinking the door is open, just unplug the suspected switch, close all the doors, and see if the problem stops. (don't forget to wait a second to give the lights time to go off) If unplugging the switch solves it, the replace it. If it doesn't, Ford can check your GEM to see if it is the problem.

You probably have a bad switch on one of the doors that is triggering the alarm as well as the dome light. Close the car up. Walk around and jiggle each door until the dome light comes on or the alarm trips. Some cars have switches on the hood too. When you isolate the door (or the trunk or hood) that is the problem, replace the switch for that door. The switch is located on the frame of the car. You should be able to find it with the door open.

there is a timer on the interior lights to turn off after 20 minutes.
one of your door switches are bad,and it tells the computer that a door is open and the lights are turned off,that makes sense.
a way to test this is to undo the battery for a minute. then see if the interior lights come on. one of the door switches is bad

You probably have a faulty door,boot or bonnet lock.If you put the inside light switch to the setting for the light to come on when the doors are open,close all the doors and see if the light goes off.If your model golf has a display on the dash,it shuold tell you which door is open.It could also be a faulty interior sensor or a faulty alarm horn.A diagnostic machine will be able to tell you which was the last alarm activation.

One of the Dome/Interior Light Buttons is NOT WORKING at door

The doorlach pin is faulty.
On newer vehicles it is inside the door on the locking mechanism.
It is stuck in the closed position, or has become dislodged.
Refer to your mechanic for repair.

Sounds like the timing unit which automatically turns off your dome lights after a few minutes is working backwards. Probably need a new unit.
