So I have a 2002 Nissan Frontier. My issue is concerning my manual transmission. When I am driving and go from 2nd to 3rd I notice a significant change in the way the truck sounds. When I say sound I'm talking about how loud I hear the engine revving. For some reason my 5th gear just started making even more noise. I can still drive in those gears but it is quite a concern since it's the only automobile available at the moment. Any thoughts or ideas or suggestions?
It's weird but it's the problem!!! There is a switch on the transmission near the selector, usually only affects 3rd gear!!! The switch is being distorted after repetitive battering with gear selection!!! I have experienced it and also read about it in australia on a Navara!!!
Check the fluid level. check the transmission mount. i have seen these transmissions actually break at the mount, causing the fluid to leak, causing noises and vibrations.
Mazie, Slater, Katz & Freeman, LLC is putting together a
class action lawsuit against Nissan Motor Company related to issues where a
leak from the radiator into the transmission is causing radiator and
transmission failure. This problem
is prevalent on several 2005, 2006 Nissan Frontier, Xterra, Pathfinder
models. My vehicle is a 2006
Nissan Frontier. Please share your
information so Nissan will have to accept responsibility for their defect. Go to www.transmission-lawsuit.com to
share your details.

Ok cool thanks alot guys I will take a look under the truck next chance I get and will let you guys know which if either solution works
oh also I have just got the transmission fluid changed out and the rear diff. as well so I don't think it is the fluid level but will still look under tranny to see if its broken off somewhere.
