I have a 98 corvette with an automatic transmission that make a hard bump every time I put it in gear. It also make a bump when it moves through gears when accelerating.

I am assuming you have an automatic transmission. If you put in neutral and you feel a down shift, then adjust the shift cable. Your probably going to have to do this at/under the console. If you have a manual transmission, then it is internal. Shift forks could be bent, plastic guides are worn out or gone.

Hello, Make sure the transmission fluid is up to the full mark on the dipstick if this is an automatic transmission.

most likely but I am not exactly sure what ones other than shift connections and speedometer sensor(etc)

Get the code pulled from the cars computer. It will tell you why the check engine light came on.

Have you tried changing transmission fluid and filter?

I would start by checking the fluid level in your transmission. If it is fine, then it's possible one of the solenoids in the transmission is going bad. Is the check engine light on? Goodluck

This is normal.
