Camaro the car died on the highway last week while driving the battery is fine an it starts after sitting sometimes but it runs for a few 20 seconds or so dies again no check engine lights or check gauge lights come on i've heard pump, filter, or possibly fuel pump ground wire. i was going to change the fuel filter first it's a 2001 just over 80k should i bother trying that it gets gas but when sitting idle it's like the flow gets restricted a few seconds after hitting the pedal it idle's normal when it does start until it's like it runs out of gas clogged filter or something else

Nah. i can almost say 100% its the "ignition module". I had no idea what the hell it was either but my mechanics a GM guy and once he replaced that it was fine. I had the exact same problem but lucky i was at a streetlight.

The fuel filter should be changed yes , if you have never had it done or do not know if it has been done. The problem nay be a crank position sensor and or tps sensor or the camshaft position sensor. If you can pick up an automotive diagnostic scanner and scan for codes. Even tho there is no light on , it still may be an issue. Thank you , Quinn Texada

Car battery dying

The light is telling you the battery is low on charge. What you need to do is check the alternator and see if it is putting out the correct amperage. If you go to Auto zone they can check this for you and I believe it is free. Another test you could do is start the car and pull the positive cable from the battery and if the car dies then you have a charging problem and most likely is the alternator. A couple things about the battery itself. Make sure the connections are clean and tight. If the alternator is good then maybe the battery is not taking the charge from the alternator.

Idles roughly, then low when stopped or in park, then dies. Decreasing gas mileage. Slow to accelerate

Sometimes that's caused by a vacuum leak near the manifold area.

Sometimes air in the coolant will cause an idle problem. Air will keep the air temp sensor from sending proper info.
Hope this helps.

I have 97 camaro it starts and drive fine but when i shut it off it wont start back up until it sits for a few hours?

We had a problem like this in our 97 Camaro with the V6. It would run fine until my wife went somewhere with it, parked it and then wouldn't restart. When it would sit for about an hour then it would start again. It turned out to be the crank position sensor, when the electronic part of it got hot enough it couldn't sense correctly and tell the computer how to time the spark. All it would do is crank without firing. So once we had that sensor replaced it ran good again. Good luck I hope this helps! I'm on to the next problem it's having, an occasional battery drain and a radio and electric windows that die when they want to and come back later. BuzzieTN

Fuel pump or filter possibly

the idle control sensor could be bad give these websites a try www.alldatadiy.com and www.autozone.com if all fails stop by your local GM dealership and ask for the manager and he can tell you what is going on if that fails stop by your local library and get your hands on a Haynes auto repair manual for you car wish you the best Michigan Man.

Fuel pump is located in the fuel tank. A shop can do a fuel pressure pretty easy. You could do it to, you just have to spend 50 to buy a tester, or spend 20 to have a shop do it.
