ABS/ASC module is faulty
CLASSIC ABS FAILURE SYMPTOMS:
- Most of the time, the problem is the ABS module or one of the 4 wheel speed sensors (& sometimes the brake pressure sensor)
- In my 2002 BMW E39 DSC, three orange (warning) cluster display lights lit, ABS, Brake, & DSC
- The 3 warning lights reset when the ignition is turned off, only to repeatedly reappear within minutes of normal driving
- The fault is often intermittent leading you to falsely believe you've resolved the problem (proper diagnosis is important)
- Sometimes the fault only appears when the engine is hot; other times only at speeds over 40 mph
- Carsoft may erroneously show a rear speed sensor failure; but just replacing the speed sensor may make no difference.
- All the work is in correct diagnosis of the problem; parts replacement is trivial (from 1 to six bolts in a few minutes)
- Hence, this BMW E39 ABS 3-warning light DIY will concentrate on understanding and diagnosis of the problem

This Happened to my 528i E39 about a year ago. The asc light/abs light would light up everytime i would start my car. I researched about this and found that it went into malfunction mode due to excessive slipping on snow/ice and that the system will reset its self within 100 miles of driving if that is the case. I know this thread is old but someone might find it useful.

Replacing e39 bmw abs brake pressure sensor

There is a brake pressure switch mounted on the ABS unit. It is a three wire sensor that needs a 5 volt reference, signal and ground. What can happen is the 5 volt reference from the module drops out and therefore the signal voltage drops out along with it. Few have replaced the brake switch itself and had the same problem. The module stops supplying the 5 volt reference to the brake pressure switch and the brake pressure switch cannot function properly. The replacement module will need to be coded after being installed.

ASC + T light permanently on

Whenever this warning light or any other stays on in the dash it is indicating that the systems control module (or the system sensor in the case of lights like low oil pressure, door open indicators etc.) has detected a fault, it then disables the system (this applies to ABS,TCS, TCM, SRS, TPMS, MIL, CEL and BCM faults and others) as long as the light is on. You must now have the dealer hook up a special electronic diagnostic tool and "scan" the system for the fault code that is stored for the problem(s)

Legend of Abbreviations. ABS Anti-lock brake system. TCS Traction control system, TCM Transmission control module, SRS Supplemental restraint system, BCM Body control module. TPMS Tire Pressure Monitor System, MIL Malfunction Indicator Lamp, CEL Check Engine Light.

I have bmw 530d and abs asc and other 1 its on after 2 miles i been on service and mecanic sed presure sensor interference,i change presure sensor and delithed all cods but its on agan.

Hi.The problem of your car sounds like a faulty ABS/ASC control unit. It is the common problem of this model cause the Control Unit is too close to exhaust manifold resulting to dammage internal parts of ABS/ASC control unit. But although this is the common problem of your car, I still suggesting you to re-hook up diagnostic tools and double check the condition of wiring harness, plug connections and power supply of related fault codes you will retrieved and if the problem still existing then I recommend you to replace the ABS/ASC Control unit and do Coding for new control unit.
I hope this tip will help you to solve your problem.
Thanks

BMW (e39 1999) eml and asc lights and in limp mode

Check the ABS brake sensors in your wheels, if they are not functioning properly. It will trigger the computer to engage the ASC auto stability control light as the asc uses the brakes to assist in control. I will also engage the EML engine management light to slow the rev point to limp mode

Bmw 520i 1999 abs/asc lights on diagnostic

Check to see if your brake pads and rotors are in good condition. Or if you have replaced the pads yourself and have not reset the wheel sensors this would cause the ABS Antilock Brake System light and the ASC Automatic Stability Control light to stay on as the ASC uses the ABS brakes with computer assistance to control the car

How do i shut off the traction control in my 2001 BMW 3-series coupe when there is no switch on the dash?

To turn off the traction control, you need to press and hold the traction control button. Normally this is located on the centre console above the gearstick and you should have one of the following;

ASC or ASC +T
DSC
finally a button with an exclamation inside a triangle with an arrow on the outside in a clockwise direction. You'll have one of these 4 buttons.

Simply pressing it once will partially turn it off - (depending if its dsc, if not dsc but asc then the system will be turned off)

If you press and hold however, the system will be fully turned off and a warning light will appear on the dash. Again this all depends on the system you have and if you need to press and hold until the light comes on the instrument cluster,or just to press once!

Hope this helps!

Asc alwayes on after i changed he ABS box

hello mazeer, when you changed the abs/dsc/asc control unit did you have the replacement coded to your vehicle. Also after changing to another unit, it is usually necessary to recalibrate the sensors. if your vehicle does not recognize the replacement unit, you will have a constant warning lamp. Most dealers/shops charge appr. 1hr to code and calibrate the control unit.

My car is bmw 525i 2000 model asc sensor alwayes on after i change abs box

if you changed the asc module, the module has to be programmed/coded after replacement. If it was a new part there should be no problem programming the new control unit. I would recommend taking the vehicle to the dealership to allow them to program the control unit.If you have access to the programming don't forget to take the asc module out of "end of belt line mode" and most likely the steering angle sensor will have to be aligned
