I have a 320d of 2000 which has done 104 000k. The turbo boost used to come in at about 2000rpm and again at just over 3000rpm. The 2000 boost does not seem as powerful as it was and the 3000 boost is no longer noticeable. The car has been serviced by the dealers and is otherwise in good condition. What could the problem be? Thanks claude

Dear friend:a turbo can only boost the air that it receives,if the turbo is not damaged it should work properly, the turbo depends on the exhaust gasses for the speed that it turns which then boosts the air that it receives, that means that any restrictions on either side of theturbo will influens the preformance, check the air filter and ducting pipes.

Should you be able to hear the turbine whine on a 6.5 turbo, and can you adjust the turbo?

you can here it,,,just,,,,but you will fell it more,,try going into top gear at say 30mph hold your foot hard down and keep it hard down wate till the engine revs up to about 2000rpm and if the turbo is working right at about 2000rpm the car will pick up its feet and start flying like a home sick angel
my advice is leave the turbo boost be,,you will only use more fule up and start blowing off pipes or split the intercooler,,,,and thats pricy

Turbo cuts out under normal driving

That sounds like turbo overboost, ECU cutting the boost off. when you try and boost again feels like your hitting a brickwall, or when it happends feels like your hitting a brick wall...turning the car off resolves this.

Reset your ecu, disconnect the battery for 30seconds - 1minute.

Bmw 2001 320d turbo how do i fix or how much for a second hand one???

The turbos are terrible on the 320d. If you plan on keeping the car get a new turbo. £950 from BMW themselves. You will get a 1 or 2 year warranty on the turbo. Well worth it.

Hello i am from creece i have an impreza 2000 turbo 1994 model . the car before 2000 rpm and 4000-4500rpm in full gas is cuting down very aggressive can you help me please?

This sonds like a boost issue as a fault in the waste gate or turbo could be the culprit.Using as boost gauge, verify proper positive boost in this power band range.

Freelander TD4 2004 Engine light comes on at 3000rpm cuts power

I don't wish to worry you but I think the turbo kicks in at around 2500rpm and it sounds like it isn't doing so, hence the management light coming on. It could be that failing. Be careful here, apparently the turbo uses the engine oil to maintain its operating temperature and if the turbo seals fail in anyway it eats the engine oil, with the resulting total failure of the power unit. So if you do nothing else, keep an eye on the engine oil level. (You may also notice oil smoke out the exhaust as well).
Unfortunately it looks like a trip to the dealer for them to check what the engine management is saying.

LC Prado 2LTurbo engine, turbo is not boosting.

check the piping from the compressor outlet to the throttlebody for boost leaks. also check to make sure that the wastegate actuator is functioning properly. it may be stuck open. the other thing to check for would be an exhaust leak either between the head and the exhaust manifold or the exhaust manifold and the turbo.
if its none of those things, check the blades on the turbo (compessor and turbine sides) for damage and make sure that it turns freely
