Sounds like you have warped brake rotors. You may be able have them cut or replaced.

I tend to agree with the brake rotor issues, and maybe loose Wheels. Another thing to check is your power assist for your power brakes. You may be losing vacuum, causing it to pulse in a hard brake

It could be the tie rods on the rack n pinion that's causing the shake but it could be that the brake rotors have high spots and causing the kick back because the surfaces are uneven this could also be ball joints or control arm bushings that are worn post back to me if you are able to work on the car yourself otherwise let someone else check the car out while you watch them do it

Testimonial: "No those days are over as far as working on it myself. It was easy when I had my 71 super beetle."

Your welcome and I see most responses are close to the same as mine and I understand that you can't do the work and also the dishonest ones out there try to go to a pepboys or a Sears auto for an evaluation on the premise of a wheel alignment they will tell you what's wrong or just try a new guy to check the car or ask a dude that you think is capable of doing the work a 6pack and a meatball hero does wonders with a junkyard dog NYC lingo if your close to NYC post back to me and I will get to you for checking your vehicle I'm a 50+years of experience mechanic in the taxi business here so I only wear a hat on my brains I don't sit on them hah hah!let me know ok I'll get you an email address and then you can send me a location and I'll also give you the grease for peace hotline yay grease monkey on call good luck ok

I would check brake rotors and then check front suspension bushings. All warped rotors I've experienced will cause the steering wheel to shake too to some degree. I had some bad bushings in my front suspension on my 300zx that caused vibration under braking.

  • Maryanne Miller Aug 12, 2019

The rotors are about a year old. The steering doesn't shake just the front of the carand I don't know if you'd call it shaking. Mechanic says rack and pioion I wanted to ask here before I spend that kind of money. Thanks for your help

SOURCE: front end and steering wheel shakes

when slowing to make right turn is it more like a clicking noise, does it do it while turning or just when slowing down. If it is while you are turning it is most likely the right cv axle drive shaft popping. When at a stop with ac on does it shake if you put it in park and how do the rpms read in park or in drive. Did they change the trans mount also dont thank that is it just trying to get a better understanding so I can better assist you.

SOURCE: steering wheel shakes when driving at high speeds between 45-60 m

the most likely soultion is your tires need to be balanced, then it could be your rims are out of round, flat spot on tires. when you balance your tires the machine will tell u if there out of round. make there they road force them as well. exp 2 yrs in being a technician

When driving around at any speed on highway my car feels like gliding It feels like I'm going to lose control and sometimes when I brake coming down hill the front end shakes violently. then will stop

This is an indication of a strut issue. The shocks dampen the spring in the strut assembly. IF you have loose fastening components or bushings or a bad shock in the strut you can get a violent shudder when you apply brakes on a down hill direction.

My 2002 Chevy Trailblazer anti lock breaks system is kicking in on dry pavement when slowing down to stop? The break peddle is pulsating upon stopping?

Usually a front speed sensor/wheel hub going bad. is there a humming noise from the front end area while driving at highway speeds? If there is, try to isolate which side it is, and have that hub bearing replaced and make darn sure the axle nut is torqued to the proper spec, or it will fail. To many auto techs just tighten them up withan impact gun, and say its good.

The engine falters at low speeds

The flashing engine check light means a code is being stored in the computer. You need to have this code read and this will tell you what system is malfunctioning.

My 99 jimmy with a 4L60E, on a downshift (kickdown) at highway speed or any speed really when downshift by pressing down the accelarator or downshifting by hand the tansmission feels like it's in neutral,...

First off there may be nothing wrong. At highway speed, the trans will shift down to 1st, but you won't feel it. If should feel like neutral. Does it shift normally when your "wide open throttle" from standstill? If it shifts properly in this situation, then your fine, don't worry. How about wide open throttle at say 25mph? how about 35 and 45? anything over that and its gonna feel like neutral. IF your convinced that your passing gear is not working right, it could mean that its out of adjustment, and needs a little more push, more throw, or kinda like adjusting the rod out a little bit further. Adjust your "passing gear linkage" or kickdown as you imply. Second guess would be low on transmisison fluid, filter, and last, the transmissoin control selonoid. Again I suggest its doing just fine, if it shifts down at any speed.

Hub bearing assembly

hi there when did your mechanic say to repair bearing how long ago? and why did you bring it to him , did you hear noise or did you feel shaking ? if you brought it into shop because of shaking then its advisable not to drive it for to much longer because it could damage your cv joint that drives your tires and could even leave you stuck . if you brought it in to the shop because you heard noise from tire then you could probably get away with a gentle highway ride stopping evry so often to let it cooldown and keep your speed down a bit slower than you would normally drive . keep your eyes open and remember to have it repaired soon as you get back from trip ok , goodluck dont drive to fast and if this helped you then rate me as fixya.
